Which university is better for civil engineering: IIT BHU or IIT Guwahati?

Between IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati for Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati will be the better choice. Given below are the reasons why.

According to the NIRF Ranking 2020, IIT Guwahati and IIT BHU are ranked respectively at 7 and 11. Also, IIT Guwahati is an old IIT whereas IIT BHU became IIT recently. JoSAA released the cutoff for Civil Engineering at IIT Guwahati- 5284 is higher than that of IIT BHU- 6026. This means more students prefer IIT Guwahati for Civil Engineering over IIT BHU.

IIT BHU does offer lucrative placement packages, but that is valid for branches like CSE, IT, or E&C. The core placement for Civil Engineering in IIT BHU is not good, all though students of civil can sit for placement in software companies. The Civil Engineering department at IIT Guwahati has a 77% placement rate and the average salary offered at this IIT is around 11 LPA. However, it is imperative to note that the overall placement scenario in IIT BHU is considerably better than IIT Guwahati.

IIT Guwahati has one of the best civil engineering faculties after IIT Roorkee and IIT Bombay. It offers a good overhauled infrastructure and well-equipped labs in Civil Engineering. IIT BHU on the contrary has a considerable shortage of faculty members in Civil Engineering (except for Structural Engineering).
