What is the difference between an Anna University degree and a degree from a deemed university? Which is better?

KI
Kainaz Irani Posted On : December 5th, 2022
B,Tech in Information Technology & Computing, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2012)

Anna University's colleges are divided into three categories. First, there are University Colleges, then Affiliated Colleges, and finally Autonomous Colleges.

Only a few university colleges are truly excellent, namely the MIT Campus of Anna University in Chennai and the CEG Campus. If you get these, please take them. Even BIT Trichy is significant because of its excellent placements.

Not all affiliated colleges are excellent. The same is true of autonomous ones. PSG Tech, Coimbatore is an excellent autonomous college that you should consider.

Other colleges affiliated with/autonomous to Anna University are of poor quality. Deemed Universities must be considered in such cases. Even among the prestigious, you should choose VIT/Christ University/Karunya/MIT Manipal/Symbiosis.

Is it worth doing an MBA from Indian B-schools like SCMHRD or JBIMS or will I always be inferior to those from top IIMs or XLRI?

AG
Anamika Ghose Posted On : August 18th, 2022
Master of Business Administration, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

Doing an MBA from top IIMs and XLRI have its advantages. These are the best management schools in the country and offer excellent career opportunities and exposure. But it doesn’t necessarily mean pursuing an MBA from JBIMS will not be worth the investment. It ranks right after IIM ABC, XLRI, and FMS. It has maintained a stellar placement record over the years. JBIMS placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 27.63 LPA. The return on investment is great.

SCMHRD isn’t as reputed as JBIMS. But it is also a good B-School with decent placement record. The average CTC for SCMHRD is around INR 16 LPA.

Madras University is the better option for an MBA. Anna University CEG is a reputed college for Engineering. It is more known for its BE and other UG courses.

Pursuing an MBA from Madras University or the affiliated colleges will offer good placements and exposure. A lot of companies and banks hire from Madras University. As per the recent highlights of Madras University placement, the average and highest CTC for the university are INR 4 LPA and INR 9 LPA.

Which is better, ISBF Delhi or NMIMS Mumbai for economics honours?

RK
Ritesh Kumar Posted On : February 23rd, 2023
PGDM from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (2019)

Both the colleges ISBF Delhi and NMIMS Mumbai offer a decent Economic Honors program. I have drawn a detailed comparison between the two on the basis of the following parameters

Worth of the Degree: NMIMS might be a reputed college but its degree cannot be compared to that of ISBF which offers a University of London degree in addition to academic assistance from London School of Economics and Political Science, the top-ranked institute in Economics.

Curriculum: Economics is vast and covers a very broad spectrum of subjects from development and finance to international trade. Now the University of London excellently allows the students to choose 6 electives of their choice in addition to 6 compulsory subjects. This ensures that the students get a job in the sector they are passionate about. This flexibility of curriculum lacks on the part of NMIMS.

Prospects: A DU student applying to top institutions in the UK for a master, is required to complete a diploma year before starting with his master's. This aims to compensate for the difference in the standard of education. However, anyone with a University of London degree can directly apply for a Master in top universities in the UK.

Batch size: The batch size at ISBF is relatively smaller than that of NMIMS. This aids in better student-teacher interaction and class discussions. This in turn helps in better delivery of the curriculum.

So in almost all aspects, ISBF is a better choice than NMIMS.

IMI Delhi is better than IIM Sirmaur. It is a reputed and older b-school. IMI brand name is well-recognized in the industry. It has a rigorous pedagogy and a brilliant faculty base. Being located in Delhi, students get good exposure to the industry nearby.

IMI Delhi placements are excellent. According to the highlights of 2022, students received an average CTC of INR 15.23 LPA. While the highest CTC offered this year was INR 32 LPA. HDFC Life, Capgemini, BCG, Deloitte, etc. are among the top recruiters that take part in the campus drive.

Should I take CSE in KIIT or IEM, Kolkata?

AR
Arnav Roy Posted On : July 25th, 2023
Lives in Kolkata, West Bengal, India

I have a friend who scored a rank of 1536 in KIITEE and chose CSE in KIIT while another who got a rank of 4158 in WBJEE and went got IEM ECE.

What I mean is that the institute does not matter but it’s your capability and skills that determine your success rate. I find judging colleges based on placements very silly.

So, if your ultimate goal is BTech only then take any one between IEM and KIIT depending on your financial background but if you are planning to pursue higher education, IEM will help you save money that can later be used for higher studies.

Are there any differences in an MBBS (academics and hostel life) among the AIIMS, Delhi, and MAMC?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 5th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Here are a few points of differences between MBBS from AIIMS Delhi and MAMC

  • The quality of education offered is definitely better at AIIMS Delhi because it accepts only the top 50 while MAMC accepts 250.
  • The internship opportunities are better at MAMC than at AIIMS
  • PG at MAMC is better than at AIIMS as the latter provided minimal clinical exposure; they.
  • AIIMS has mostly rare cases and very less communicable diseases like typhoid, tuberculosis, malaria, and pneumonia in AIIMS.
  • Most AIIMS students are sent to Safdarjung Hospital and there is capping on OPD patients as well. PGI Chandigarh is better as they don't shunt patients anywhere and keep all of them.
  • Most AIIMS faculty do not belong to AIIMS and they are not much familiar with its technology while at MAMC you can manage most of the cases from the second or third year of your residency.

I feel at the DM level AIIMS is better but for cardio and gastro, MAMC is better. Ultimately the choice depends on your personal preferences.
