Mr Sachin Mittal is a Faculty member (BBA) at Shivalik Institute of Professional Studies Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He completed his MBA in Marketing and International Business in 2003 and is currently pursuing Ph.D. He holds an experience of 12 years in the corporate sector and 5 years in the academic sector.

What are your responsibilities towards the students of this Institute?

We help our students to be passionate about learning and understand the impact of lifelong education. Faculty plays a crucial role in shaping the lives of young people. We inspire, motivate and encourage a new generation of learners. 

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Motivate the students and faculty to lead with a shared vision and communicate effectively”

 Faculties act as role models, mentors, caregivers and advisers. We try to establish a profound effect on the lives of our students. I build relationships with all stakeholders, discover and play to the strengths of their staff and community members. I strongly believe in building leadership capacity by empowering students and educators to embrace an innovator’s mindset.

How do you bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make them industry-oriented?

“Case-based learning and teaching methodologies” 

We use multiple case studies, topic wise and according to the need of a particular subject. This allows students to understand industry problems. Our focus is on outcome-based education that measures student performance through outcomes (knowledge, skills and attitudes).

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated?

“Regular updates to make the course compatible with the dynamic needs of job industry”

At the beginning of the semester, we prepare the course structure and its outline. Its implementation is done in a structured manner. Multiple updates and modifications happen to the curriculum based on the current trends and requirements as well. 

Does the Institute organize any extracurricular activities for the students?

We conduct various contests and competitions among students to enhance their presentation and business skills. Various activity clubs for Innovation are also a part of a day to day activities.

What has been your vision for this institute and its students?

To achieve our long-standing goal of excellent placement, we conduct seminars, workshops and guest lecturers for our students. This is done by inviting various experts of industries and subjects. Also, we conduct a personality development program to enrich and prepare a student for higher education as well as placement.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty?

We encourage our faculties to participate in various faculty development programs, webinars and workshops to improve their skills. The teacher quality is maintained through Orientation sessions, monitoring and regular feedback from students.
