Global Institute Of Integral Management Studies

Mr. Sreejith is the CEO at Global Institute Of Integral Management Studies. He is a career academician who's worked with numerous institutions during his career. He is a versatile personality who quickly adapts to changes and encourages students to bring in the same attitude. Read here what he has to say in his interview.

What are your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students?

“I’m involved at every level in this institute”

I am a career academician. I’ve always worked with institutions during my career. We started this particular organization to set up specialized courses in supply chain management and logistics. I have done lots of work around international logistics, and with that experience, I started this Business school in Kochi. I take care of all administration, development, franchising, and take classes as well.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I am a people-centered person”

We created a system within the organization where our approach is student-centric. I believe that every person has an immense potential to impact the organization positively. I respect everyone because they all add value in their unique way. I have seen this in my staff personally. I compromise on many things with people because people are an essential factor.

We are changing the context from curriculums to students centered; we moved on from teacher-centered classrooms to student-centered classrooms; the student's improvement is more important than focusing on the curriculum.”

What do you think should be the Institute's top priority over the next 10 years?

“We have certain expansion plans where students’ involvement is our prime focus”

We follow a hybrid format. We combine both online and in-person classes as well. We have in-person physical seminars as well. From both Trivandrum and Hyderabad, we are getting franchisee invites. We are getting a lot of interest in our online courses in logistics from many SAARC countries, including Pakistan. In 10 years, we want to be one of the best in Asia.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for GIIMS specifically?

“The educational system is not very connected with real-life outside the institutions”

We can get inspired by American and European designs, but our problems in India are quite different. We should incorporate the issues that India faces in the curriculum too. For example, crisis management is absent in Indian education. There is also a lot of wealth disparity in India. It should change through empowering people through education. As Indians, we can create many more jobs.

We need to focus more on peer learning, as well. As far as GIIMS is concerned, we want a lot of corporate partnerships to give the students a lot of practical knowledge. The world is changing, and we want GIIMS to be on the forefront.
