What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To be an understanding and accommodating leader with strong vision”

As a leader, I am always available for my faculty, administrative staff or any other member of our institution. It is not my style to be overly strict. I am also incredibly approachable. Leadership for me is not just exercising power and authority. It is about accomplishing the objectives and goals of the institute by playing a responsible role in the organization.

How does the curriculum of Tamilnadu School of Architecture ensure the best practice of industry?

“By involving practical and field activities in the curriculum for better learning”

When it comes to our curriculum, we focus mainly on two things. First, it should suffice the criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture (COA). Second, since we are in Tamil Nadu and affiliated to Anna University, we should also follow the curriculum given by Anna University. I believe the curriculum given at Anna University in itself is sufficient to provide the industry ready skills to the students.

What do you think your responsibilities to the University and the students are?

“To dedicate my time and efforts towards the upliftment of my learners and fellow colleagues”

My responsibility is to take care of the students academically as well as in co-curricular activities. I need to ensure that everything happens in a time-bound and in a systematic manner. The main goal is to keep on moving ahead by ensuring that we provide the best pedagogy to our students.

What do you see as your College’s greatest strengths?

“Expert faculty, strong infrastructure and modern facilities for learners”

The main strength of this college is the faculty. Also, total commitment and the desire to evolve are our unique strengthening factors. We endorse a non-commercial outlook when it comes to building professionals for the future. Also, this college is the oldest architecture college in Coimbatore. I was the first one to start an Architecture College in the year 2006.

What advice do you have for the students of Architecture of Tamilnadu School of Architecture?

“To achieve success, you must first practice architecture and learn by doing”

  • Since this is a 5-year architecture course, if you want to be an architect, better start practising after you pass out from college.
  • In case if you are thinking of master, then opt for landscape architecture, project management and interior designing.
  • Also, I recommend that everyone should work for at least two to three years (practise) before taking on any new assignments.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your institute?

“It is crucial for a positive climate to respond to issues of students and faculty”

I ensure that I remain easily approachable by any person in the institution, whether it is faculty, administrative staff, housekeeping or anyone else. Therefore, any issues they have can be easily resolved. According to my beliefs, the only important task of the teachers is to guide and help students academically.

How does your college enhance the skills of the faculty?

“FDP’s, training session and government approved online courses for skill enhancement”

Our faculty attends various seminars to learn new advancements happening in the industry. Also, as a Senior, I motivate them to go to different cities and colleges for multidisciplinary training in the field of academics. They need to have more exposure to the current developments in the architecture field.
