The NorthCap University’s School of Engineering and Technology ranks amongst Top 100 Institutions in All India NIRF Ranking 2021

The NorthCap University’s School of Engineering and Technology added another feather to its cap as it is ranked amongst the Top 100 institutions in the All India NIRF Ranking 2021, released on 9th September by Hon'ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. The NorthCap University has also been ranked in the 151-200 band, for the 4th consecutive year in the All India NIRF Ranking 2021. 

Speaking on the joyous occasion, Dr. Nupur Prakash, Vice-Chancellor, The NorthCap University said “It is a matter of honor that for the 4th Consecutive year, we have achieved the accolade of ranking amongst the Top 200 universities in India. We believe it is due to the sheer hard work and dedication of all our faculty, employees and, students that we continue to rank well. Furthermore, it is a proud moment for our School of Engineering and Technology as they have moved up the ladder and are ranked at 97th position in the Engineering Category across the country. We shall continue to work hard, strive to do better and raise the bar as the years go by.” 

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by the Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015. This framework outlines a methodology to rank universities and institutions across the country based on their performance in areas like “Teaching, Learning and, Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.  Amongst the parameters given, NCU has managed to score well in Teaching, Learning and, Resources with a strong faculty-student ratio. Furthermore, NCU has also scored well in the “Graduation Outcome” parameter and in the category of Women’s representation in diverse fields under the “Outreach and Inclusivity” parameter. 


Prof. (Dr.) Nupur Prakash takes charge as Vice-Chancellor of The NorthCap University

The NorthCap University today announced the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Nupur Prakash as its Vice-Chancellor. In her role, she will head all academic schools and departments and chair the Board of Management, the Academic Council, and all other statutory bodies.

Prior to joining The NorthCap University, she served as the Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Principal of Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology and Dean, School of IT, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

She earned her Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Master's in Computer Science and Technology from IIT Roorkee, where she received the Chancellor's Medal. She did her Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from Punjab University. She has published and presented more than 100 research papers and articles in national and international journals and conferences. She has been a strong propagator of STEM education for girls and has won many accolades including the "Inspiring Women Edu-leader" in 2014, 22nd Devang Mehta Business School Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Education" and several other laurels. With her sound technical background in technology, she will be at the forefront of driving innovation at The NorthCap University and facilitate its transformation to a digital-first university matching global standards.

Prof Nupur Prakash’s appointment comes on the backdrop of the university’s recent announcement of its tie-up with Arizona State University and Cintana Education. The NorthCap University Co-Hosted QS IGAUGE. R.I.S.E. Delhi-NCR Edition

In line with its commitment towards the advancement of Indian higher education offerings and elevating it to global standards, The NorthCap University today co-hosted QS IGAUGE. R.I.S.E., Delhi-NCR edition, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Haryana and Delhi NCR. Redefining Institutional Strategy for Excellence (R.I.S.E) provides a unique platform for academic leaders in the Higher Education landscape in India and globally, to connect and discuss the evolving dynamics due to the prevailing pandemic, which has impacted the higher education sector across the world.

The aim of R.I.S.E. is not only to bring together the institutions within and outside a state but to bring forth the global perspective to collaborate and brainstorm ideas for providing quality higher education.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director, QS – MEA & South Asia followed by a welcome address by Prof. Milind Padalkar, Pro-Chancellor, The NorthCap University. 

While welcoming the guests to the R.I.S.E event, Prof. Milind Padalkar, Pro-Chancellor, The NorthCap University said, “As an institution, The NorthCap University has always stood for quality, innovation, and a desire to bring the future forward to make education future-proof. Hence, we are highly delighted to co-host this event with QS India.”

During his inaugural speech at R.I.S.E, Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) said, “The fulcrum of institutional excellence will come from faculty members because they are constantly associated with an educational institution for a very long time. A faculty spends around four decades in the academic sphere, hence they become the most important pillar to achieve excellence in Education.”

Further talking about the need of adopting technology in education, Prof. Sahasrabudhe while talking about the initiatives taken by AICTE to empower faculties during the pandemic, said, “We have trained over 1.65 lakh teachers in courses like AI, IoT, ML, Blockchain, AR & VR, etc. with the help of over 948 programs available online under AICTE’s Training & Learning Academy.” He further added that AICTE plans to train over 2 lakh teachers through 130 programs during this year.

Lastly, showcasing his gratitude towards The NorthCap University for inviting him to the R.I.S.E event Prof. Sahasrabudhe added, “I would like to thank The NorthCap University for arranging such a program and the university should move in the direction to become global and attract students from all over the world.

After the insightful inaugural speech by Prof. SahasrabudheProf Dr. Rekha Vig, Dy. Dean (Academic Affairs), The NorthCap University during a debate on “Online classroom: Bane or boon for higher education?”, said, “The Indian education fraternity has embraced the online system more than willingly, meticulously, and ardently. During the lockdown, when everything was closed, education institutions were open working and students were studying. Online teaching has changed the way the world learns now. Thanks to Covid, education is never going to be the same again. It’s not just the transformation itself but the pace at which it has happened is rather more intriguing.

In the panel presentation on “Case study on best practices in leveraging international collaborations”, Prof. Nupur Prakash, Vice-Chancellor, The NorthCap University, said“Internationalization of education has happened a long time back. But it has been adopted in different ways by different universities. We all know knowledge is beyond boundaries and with the internationalization of education, there shall be a free flow of ideas, information, skills, etc. across the world. The digital revolution has further enabled this process and has helped new-age businesses in flourishing.”

The event concluded with a presentation on ‘‘Measuring Institutional Quality and Excellence through QS IGAUGE’’ by Mr. Sachin Kumar, Associate Director – Client Relations, QS IGAUGE, and a closing note by Ms. Suchismita Mallick, Analyst, QS IGAUGE. The R.I.S.E. NCR edition was attended by 250+ academic leaders from India as well as abroad and has successfully created an engaging platform at par with international standards to bring higher education institutions closer besides creating opportunities such as research collaborations, exchange of best educational practices, etc.


The NorthCap University Joins AWS Academy to Equip Students with In-Demand Cloud Computing Skills

NCU scored 5 QS Stars on Teaching, Online Learning, and Employability

The NorthCap University (NCU), Gurugram joins an elite group of Indian universities by scoring an overall rating of 4 stars in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Ratings. Less than ten universities in India have this distinction.

QS’s 4-star rating cements NCU’s position among the most sought-after universities of India. QS Stars rating system focuses on teaching excellence, state-of-the-art content, pedagogical approaches, and learning outcomes. QS follows a detailed, unbiased audit process to rate academic institutions on a scale of 1 to 5 stars for overall performance and separately for eight criteria.

According to the rating assessment report, NCU has achieved a perfect score of 5 stars in Teaching, Employability, Academic Development, Online Learning, and Inclusiveness. The ratings validate NCU’s exceptional teaching standards, overall academic excellence, and focus on student success.

Ninth Convocation, The NorthCap University, Gurugram Virtual Mode

The NorthCap University, Gurugram conducted the Ninth Convocation Ceremony for its under- graduate, post-graduate students and Ph.D. scholars for the Batch of 2020 recently. Due to prevailing pandemic conditions, the ceremony was held virtually using the platform YouTube Live. Though the Convocation this time was different from the preceding years in being virtual, the essence and the spirit was the same. This year, the University awarded degrees to 12 Ph.D., 53 Post-Graduate, and 832 Under- Graduate students. Hon'ble Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, was the Chief Guest for the Convocation Ceremony. The Ceremony was declared open by the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Prem Vrat.
The proceedings began with Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.B. Raghavendra's address. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the degree recipients and their families. He presented the Annual Report of the University while  highlighting its major achievements. He touched upon the University's pro-activeness regarding the on-going online mode for classes and examinations, maintaining hygiene standards and social distancing at the campus, and complying with the best practices in community engagement, research, and innovation. He also spoke about the various MoUs and partnerships of NCU with leading industries and organisations both locally and globally. 

Other insights shared by him were regarding the various facilities at NCU, the support systems, the placement reports, along with the significant achievements of students and faculty members. He further confirmed his solidarity in consolidating all efforts in taking NCU’s journey of excellence forward. The presiding Chief Guest Hon'ble Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe congratulated the graduates for making efforts and sacrifices to earn their degree. He urged students to appreciate the role of everyone who contributed in making their journey successful, including their family members, teachers, and peer groups. He also talked about National Education Policy 2020 and its implementation, the importance of learning in one’s mother tongue, learning different languages, and ideas of reconstructing New Bharat. He congratulated the University for participating in MHRD initiatives and making positive and multi-directional progress. He also extended his best wishes to achievers of NCU at International and National events. 

Towards the end, he wished the students on owning their new relationship with the University as ‘Alumni’ with pride and advised them to establish themselves and return to their alma-mater and make contributions in the form of knowledge-sharing and facilitation of resources. The Convocation Ceremony concluded seamlessly with a Vote of Thanks which was followed by the National Anthem.


Momentum 2020

India's beauty and essence lie in its vivid culture which inspires mystique and creates a charm for millions worldwide to-come, experience and even study our intricately woven culture. Diverse yet accommodating, we are a melting pot for different civilizations around the globe. With the intent to discover, elaborate, and envision the path back to Indian Culture roots, The NorthCap University in Gurugram organizes its Annual Festival- ‘Momentum’ each year. This year, the University conducted the fest on 5th and 6th November 2020 on virtual platforms with equal excitement, vigour and passion. Surprisingly enough, the participants' enthusiasm and energy have proved that even the pandemic-led home-lock situation could not lock their strength, compassion, and excitement. 

The team figured out new ways to dive into cultural heat for this season by keeping a comprehensive list of 13-Cultural (Onstage) and 38-Technical/Non-Technical (Offstage) events to scale up. The online Live YouTube platform was chosen to let everyone access the event with ease. On the cold and light misty morning of day one-5th November, Our honourable Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the festival and welcomed all the joiners with an insightful speech. Followed by the speech, we had several well-coordinated events in the series that kept the show go on 'live' for the next two days. Nearly 5.1k viewers watched the fest on YouTube and left their appreciating comments on our efforts. With more than 50 different events, our students have shown up their talent, skills, expressions, and competencies.

Also, a massive hoard of students swarmed the event online! With an impressive line-up of a series of events ranging from Fashion Show, Muscle Fit to Singing, and Dancing, the event enthralled masses of students through these Technical and non-Technical events. Interestingly enough, to traverse our students' cultural knack, participants enfolded the Cultural heat in- Instagram Reels, Gaming like COD, rocket league, and more, Fashion show, Dancing, Singing, and much more. Meanwhile, Comedian Parvinder Singh made the live audience laugh with several explicit punch lines and jokes.

The winners of the various events conducted during the two days won exciting cash prizes and goodies. All the participants of the fest were given e-certificates. The University congratulated all the student organisers and the participants for doing the commendable job of making the event a great success.

The ranking places NCU in Haryana's Top-ranked Private Engineering college. The university maintains stringent quality standards through a system of internal audit of its various academic, non-academic, student, and parent support systems in which the performance of each unit of the University is regularly monitored. The University is also applauded for value-added courses, online teaching, and online examination system, university-industry interface, educational leadership, innovations and social responsibility.


NCU Celebrates 70TH Year of the adoption of the Constitution Of India

School of law, The NorthCap University in association with the Ministry of Law, Government of India, is celebrating the 70th year of adoption of the Constitution by running an Awareness Campaign with a focus on fundamental duties as enshrined in the Indian constitution. In the background of it, the Ministry of Law has collaborated with the School of law, The NorthCap University, to conduct seminars/conferences/Talks on fundamental/citizen duties, organize talks/lectures, and essay/quiz competitions on fundamental duties.

Recently, a legal awareness Quiz, ‘Men’s Curea’, was organized by the School of law. One of the rounds in the quiz was based on the fundamental duties of citizens. During this round, questions were asked from fundamental duties. Apart from this, a 30 minutes session was also conducted by an expert from ‘LAWIT’ in which students of the university were informed about fundamental duties.

In the coming days, various expert lectures by renowned persons have been planned by the school of law to highlight the importance of fundamental duties. The students of the school of law will also be visiting various schools to bring awareness among school children about the duties of the citizens and how to inculcate these duties in their life. The purpose of these activities is to make the law students a part of the nation-building program where people are not just concerned about their rights but of their duties too.
