When you first came to Jagran Lakecity University – School of Engineering & Technology, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?
“To make our students excel in the fields they choose to enter”
When I joined the JLU - School of Engineering as the Head, my vision was to make our student’s Industry ready. For this, the management of our university and our fellow professors together took various positive steps, and now, we are moving towards making our students fully employable. The biggest step towards making students employable was to provide students with practical knowledge, not just theoretical knowledge. We have given priority to project-based learning in our curriculum. Under this, students have to work on a project almost every semester. The advantage of this was that students found a platform to implement their practical knowledge. They also started getting involved in various competitions at the national level with these projects. Recently, our students made us proud by getting the first position in the entire country in the software category of Smart India Hackathon - 2020 organized by the Government of India. Simultaneously, the project created by our students “Dhwani” at the "Student Research Convention - Anveshan" organized by the Association of Indian University, took first place in the Central Zone. We always encourage our students towards intelligent yet efficient software development. To increase innovation and critical thinking ability among the students, the University Fund supports students for their interesting innovations so that they can give their ideas and creativity a sustainable shape.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Contributing and empowering the society using the tool of education”
I was very lucky that I was taught by professors from prestigious national level institutions. Those professors taught me community development lessons. Community development and higher education teaching are linked as they share many principles and practices, including co-production and partnership, active participation, convenience, and empowerment. Education is widely accepted as fundamental to community and individual empowerment. So, I started my career as an educationist working on aspects of community development, and, over time, my involvement with university teaching grew.

“Be aware of the changes taking place rapidly”
Youth should consider themselves an empty bottle to be filled with so many dreams and aspirations. But for those dreams to become a reality is a huge responsibility. So gather the knowledge and be better equipped with the wisdom to take up the responsibility. Sometimes, due to a lack of awareness, it becomes difficult to make a correct academic decision. Engineering has become one of the trending and popular career choices for students in the country.
