Dr. Rajendra S. Zunjarrao is the Principal at Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) Shivajinagar, Pune. He has completed his M.Sc and Ph.D. and is a dynamic academician. He has been appointed as District coordinator (Pune City) to prepare the National Education Policy in 2015 and has received the honour of the Best Principal Award in 2014. He is one of the Board Members (Botany) at the university level as well. He has a career spanning over more than 2 decades and has received research grants from prestigious associations for more than 5 projects. He has published and presented more than 50 research articles in International and National journals of repute. 

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute?

We offer several undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of science, arts and commerce. These include M.Sc. (Computer Science), M.Sc. “Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Value-added extra credit courses and skill training”

The students are exposed to many add-on courses, certificate courses and are encouraged to undergo those courses which enhance their skills in respective areas. Fieldwork and internship give the students real-time working experience in their specialized areas which becomes the foundation stone for the students. Entrepreneurship Development Cell is established in the college which guides the students about the Entrepreneurship related activities

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

The Entrepreneurship Development cell organizes various motivational sessions and guest lectures for students' learning process. The Institutional Innovation Cell, Idea I3 club, research monitoring Committee are established in the college through which the students get insights about various research activities, innovations and ideation. We also have the Yuva Sanshodhak scheme, through which young scientists are encouraged to implement their ideas.

How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program? 

“A dedicated committee ensuring industrial connection programs and activities”

The college has an Industry-Academia Collaboration committee that takes care of Industry collaboration. Being an autonomous college, the syllabus is designed as per the current needs of industry and the market. Additionally, Special awareness programs are organized for the students in which the experts are invited from the industry. Specialized, skill-oriented training courses are conducted for the outgoing students in order to make them industry-ready.
