Professor Ritesh Vagasiya is the HOD of ECE Department in the Dr. Subhash University. He has done B.E in Electronics & Communication Engineering, M.E in Communication, and pursued PhD in the area of communication. He has more than 12 years of teaching experience and 1 year of industry experience. He has published 5+ research papers in international journals and attach more than 3 faculty development program.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“To provide excellent academics and motivate students to learn subjects”

One of my prime roles is to provide strong academics to the students and ensure overall development. We motivate them to learn the subject with practical skill. I always encourage students to participate in various technical events like workshops, seminars, paper presentations, and project presentations.

How do you establish healthy relations with students and fellow faculty? 

“Provide counseling processes, and various benefits for students' career development”

We give healthy relations with students and fellow faculties. I encourage them with a positive attitude and give various benefits for their career development. It motivates them to improve their skills. We follow an unique counseling process where each faculty is assigned with 20 students. It gives ways to achieve a goal in case of any deviation.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects as industry oriented?

“Smart India Hackathon, industry-oriented subjects and Value added Courses are available for students”

We motivate pupils to participate in project and design contests. It updates their practical oriented knowledge. Students get a chance to participate in International level industry-oriented design challenges like Smart India Hackathon, and Texas Instruments India Innovation design. It improves their knowledge-based upon industrial needs. We also give more practical exposure in the industry-oriented subjects by Signing MoU with leading industries and Organizing Value added Courses.

What are the best practices offered by Dr. Subhash University, Junagadh to the students to gain necessary skills? 

“Lectures, seminars, and workshops are given to students”

Our campus conducts guest lectures, seminars, and workshops to increase exposure of students in various fields. We motivate students to participate in workshops. So, they can represent their ideas and innovative projects. We developed a lab where students can experiment their ideas and develop products. Moreover, they get project and paper presentations to encourage students to innovate and ideate.

How do you strategize curriculum and get it updated for the students? 

“Value-added courses and Open elective subjects improve the curriculum status”

Our curriculum is designed as per the industrial needs. We update it regularly for students' benefit. Students get value added courses into the curriculum along with professional electives and open electives subjects. Based upon the Current Technology, the syllabus updated after getting approval from the Board of Studies.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education for the students in Dr. Subhash University, Junagadh?

“Provide training for pupils, and organize several workshops on campus”

We give 100% placement assistance to the students. Students are trained by our dedicated placement cell and get a job easily. They can improve industry oriented knowledge and skill in a particular field based on their interest. The placement cell organizes various workshops, seminars, and helps them to get internships in industries.

How do you help students to cope up with the competition in the outside world? 

“Arrange Guest lecturers, Skill development courses, Project works and more for pupils”

We enhance Practical oriented knowledge by encouraging them to participate in inter college, state level and national level technical challenges,and Hackathons. It will enhance their skills along with technical and non-technical aptitudes. Our campus arranges Guest lecturers and Skill development courses in recent trends. Students can work on workshops to improve their Communication Skills. We also encourage them in Project works and motivate them to file the pattern for their innovation.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students to face real-world challenges?

“Sports, cultural activities,Women cell, and other clubs are available to students.”

We have various clubs that assist students to improve their skills. Sports, cultural and academic activities are available to pupils. Our campus provides various cells to function several programs. Some of the clubs include student start-up cell, Women cell, Placement cell and 100 Point committees. 

What challenges do you face to uplift the quality of education in Dr. Subhash University, Junagadh?

“To uplift education quality, communication skills and jobs for pupils”

One of the main challenges we face is the quality of education. Most of the students are from a rural background. So, trying to improve their Communication Skills becomes difficult. Communication is essential for jobs and other scholarly feats such as Innovative publications in reputed journals. 

What was your vision for Dr. Subhash University, Junagadh?

“Quality Teaching promotes hard and soft skills for students”

My primary Vision is Quality Teaching. I continue to be updated and involved in research. We promote a cooperatively play environment where students learn the basic fundamentals of the subject. We promote both hard and soft skills for students and ensure all lessons.

How is the curriculum of Dr. Subhash University ensures the best practice of the industry? 

“Update syllabus as per industry developments, and give expert sessions for students”

We regularly update our curriculum according to industry developments. Our campus researches continuously and takes feedback from the industry experts. It will be carefully reviewed by the Board of Studies and approved by an expert panel of the Academic Council. We are placed in the forefront of universities to bring in Semiconductor and technology, embedded systems, Internet of things, cloud computing, and Artificial intelligence.

How does the Dr. Subhash University enhances the skills of the faculty and prepares them to the industry standards? 

“Conduct Short Term Training Program and Faculty Development Programs for mentors”

We encourage faculty members to participate in the Short Term Training Program and Faculty Development Programme. Faculties can visit an industry for their up-gradation of knowledge,and skills. We learn state of art technologies for industrial current trends and future trends.
