Dr. Ramesh has 24 years of experience in corporate, academic, student relations, and brand-building activities. He completed his bachelor's degree in engineering(Production) from Amravati University after which he pursued his M.Tech from Kurukshetra university in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Ramesh also holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Singhania University. In terms of languages, he is well-versed in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.

When it comes to work experience, he has 4 years of industrial experience in production planning and quality control. After this, he had a 6-year stint at Seth Jai Prakash polytechnic in Yamuna nagar in the teaching field. He has 8 years of experience as a teaching professor across different colleges and 6 years of experience as a principal in different polytechnic colleges. He also has published various research papers during his career in reputed journals. Currently, he is working as the principal at Yamuna college of engineering and technology as the principal for the past 3 and a half years.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Constant learning and having up-skill for the current trends” 

Teaching and research being my passion, I constantly keep on upgrading my skills and learning the new latest trends.


Being the Chairman/Principal of Yamuna college of engineering technology, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Being the principal of this college there is a huge responsibility to give the right path and direction to several groups i.e. students, teachers, non-teaching staff, technicians, etc. I generally lead them by giving examples, facilitating communication, and delegating and making them better people.


Being the principal of Yamuna college of engineering technology, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

"Creating a user-friendly app"

Strategy for marketing and administration: Redesigning a new official website. Creating a user-friendly app for the students, teachers & parents for constant monitoring. Investment in consistent and meaningful social media advertisements. Also, encouraging students to leave online reviews.


The education system in India and other foreign countries is structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute or university?

"Our institute's well-maintained focus is on practical application"

The fundamental difference between the two systems is that foreign-based studies are much based on the Practical approach whereas Indian studies are much inclined towards the Theoretical base. But here in our institute, a well-maintained focus is made on the practical application of the theory subjects taught in class.


How does the curriculum of Yamuna college ensure the best practice of industry?

“KEEP CLOSE TO THE INDUSTRY”

Our curriculum is a blend of academic theory and industrial practices. Several workshops, industrial training, and visits are done by the students so that they become well-equipped to become industry managers and leaders.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

Getting to know the students to which society they belong, maintaining consistent communication and emotional moral support, acknowledging and respecting every student despite the society where he/she belongs, practicing cultural sensitivity, and giving students freedom and flexibility.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the university and the students are?

My responsibilities include SHAPING A VISION OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS, CREATING A CLIMATE HOSPITABLE TO EDUCATION, CONSTANT MOTIVATION TO STUDENTS, CONDUCTING MEANINGFUL EVALUATIONS, A GOOD LISTENER TO ALL STUDENTS AND THEIR NEEDS.


What do you think should be the university’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"Academic knowledge is insufficient to sustain proper skill development"

In the upcoming 10 years, the top priority must be grooming the personality of the students so that they can compete in the globally competitive world. Only academic knowledge is insufficient to sustain the proper skill development of the students as per the industrial demands must be done.


When you first came to Yamuna college, what was your vision for the university?

"Presently we are continuing the vision of excellence in academics"

When I came for the very first time to the institute there were several drawbacks that I witnessed. But as time passed we have completely tried to resolve those issues by creating a trustworthy environment between the staff and the students. And presently we are ongoing the vision of excellence in academics along with groomed industrial and personality skills. 


What would you like people to know about your university that they may not know?

“BEING ASSOCIATED WITH INDUSTRY SPEAKERS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF STUDENTS” 

Our institute is the best place for a peaceful and harmonious work environment. The students can witness the perfect blend of academics with industrial exposure.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Yamuna college specifically?

“SWITCHING FROM CAMPUS LIFE TO DIGITAL WORLD”

After the covid pandemic hit the world almost all the modes of teaching have been shifted from offline classes to online digital classes. Although great efforts have been made by both the faculty and students to remove the barrier of communication in online mode still some limitations are left. And coming back to the real-time classes again after such a long duration, adoption becomes tough.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST” 

As far as the students are concerned a change in mindset is the required skill. They have to quickly adapt their skills and face global competition.

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for Yamuna college's international affairs and students?

For international affairs plans can be made like student fairs, hiring an international student advisor, international scholarships, etc.


How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute or university?

As far as creating a healthy environment three fundamentals are building good relations with the teachers, students, and management. Also, clear communication without any gaps at all levels. And, Trusting the decisions made by staff, students, and especially yourself.
