Ms. Shalini Gill is an assistant professor of information technology at the Poddar Group of Institutions, Jaipur. She has completed her master’s in computer applications, master’s in technology, and M.Phil. She has more than 18 years of experience in the field of education. She also has research experience in the field of information technology and published various research papers in the field of Software Engineering. She has more than 10 years of experience in Innovations. She published a patent in the year 2022. What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

To be an IT Faculty the responsibilities and roles towards students are: Develop methodology to educate students about the topic (problem solving, small group discussions, etc.) and then implement the same in the classroom and laboratory.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

To maintain healthy relationship with students: Serves as a "Teacher Friend" to the student by demonstrating a personal interest in him / her and in his / her adjustment to college; by serving as a central contact person in obtaining information that can be used to help the student, For fellow faculty: trust each other, this can help each other to improve our efficiency.

What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

Works with faculty members/department Heads and administration to integrate career planning and academic curriculum as well as coordinate Project Work/ Summer Training/internship programs to understand industry culture.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Appointing a review committee periodically, in order to review all the college academic curriculum.

How do you build a positive school culture or climate?

My goal in going to college every day is to improve my children's skills and prepare them for an outgoing world, which I do by giving them more personal attention and making them more technically proficient.

How do you prepare your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world? 

Informing HOD within a reasonable time about students' progress and how effectively students are learning. Keeps a secure record of each student's results. Attends meetings of the course instructors and course coordinator to discuss issues affecting learning and other classroom issues. With the help of these, we tend to improve students’ capability towards competition from the outside world.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

Yes, Poddar group has extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges, these are group discussions, quiz, practical sessions, communication skills and performance development sessions and many more.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Being an IT faculty, we also come across children who do not have technical skills .We provide them with all these things so that they can feel comfortable with them. This is a daily challenge for us.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train/teach the students?

Prepares database of some top international/national companies consisting of their addresses, details of operations, their expectations, their HR team etc. for which services of some students could be utilized. Assists students develop/clarify their academic and career interests, and their short and long-term goals through individual counseling and group sessions. 

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

Students must be motivated to take risks, be creative, and be innovative in all fields to gain the skills and experience they need to succeed.
