Dealing with power-packed student is at times difficult but full of rewards when they become passionate individuals ready to serve the society
I am blessed to be working in the education sector for almost 20 years now. As we all know, education is the backbone of any nation. It is also considered as a noble work worldwide. The best part of this sector is that you come across fresh minds every year who are very enthusiastic, full of passion, and ready to change the world. Dealing with power-packed enthusiastic youth is sometimes difficult but it’s a pleasure that you get to prepare these young kids for the future. You are always remembered by these kids wherever they are and at whatever position they are serving the nation. This is something that makes us proud and privileged.

It is our responsibility to prepare students for the corporate life ahead
Though, being an affiliated college, we are bound to run the curriculum prescribed by the University that we are affiliated to. But as a college, it becomes our responsibility to deliver that curriculum in such a way that it prepares our students for corporates. We have taken many initiatives in introducing various skills development programs that are offered to our students along with their regular prescribed syllabi. We also assess our students regularly and provide them remedial classes to brush up their weak areas. Regularly, we organize guest lectures by people from Industry so that the students can be aware of the recent trends. With the help of our dedicated Training and Placement office, we also organize many training programs on contemporary topics, tools, and technologies for which there is demand in the industry. We not only make our students academically good but we also conduct many social activities like blood donation camps, organ donation seminars, plantation, feed the animals and needy people and cleanliness campaigns to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards society and community as a whole in our students.
I make sure to interact with the students by going to their classes on a random basis
I consider all my students as my own kids whenever they join our college. They are free to meet me anytime they don’t find solutions with their teachers or the rest of the staff. Apart from that, I make sure to interact with the students by going to their classes on a random basis and talking to them. I share with them the new programs we have in our basket to offer them and also seek their suggestions in terms of how we can further develop facilities which will help them achieve their goals. I go to college everyday and take feedback on a regular basis about the classes, syllabus coverage and how much attendance is there in classes. I immediately take the necessary action to rectify it. Students’ satisfaction is our priority and to give them the best they are looking for is our extreme duty.
We visualize our Institute to become a humble abode of wisdom and Knowledge where we polish and nourish the professionals of tomorrow
We visualize our Institute to become a humble abode of wisdom and Knowledge where we polish and nourish the professionals of tomorrow. We make them passionate, compassionate towards the society and adaptable to the learning environment. They will be bred bustled with self-confidence, skills, and knowledge to accept any and all challenges and easily adapt to the latest developments in their profession.
The Institute will aim for a strong Institute-Industry-student interface where they will be provided with a strong platform to work under the Real life learning situations through the student centric campus startups which are run and executed by students themselves, under the strong linkage of leadership of the Professors, Alumni and the Management so that these students can become millionaires of tomorrow.
Students should be well-tailored for the corporate and inculcate the necessary skills
I think the most important skills that a candidate should possess to be industry-ready is confidence. S/he should be confident in whatever endeavors they opt for. Another important skill is communication. Here, I don’t mean the English language, but the student should be able to communicate his ideas, vision, or perspective about his activities or tasks eloquently without any hesitation. Another important skill which I find crucial is interpersonal skill and then obviously the domain skills. We are concentrating on all these skills by providing an appropriate learning environment as I mentioned earlier too.
We teach students to apply the real-learning concepts in their college projects
We have introduced many practical and industry-oriented activities that make a student application-oriented. For example, with the classroom sessions, every student is given an assignment which is a live project from the industry. We call it real-life projects. This way the students can apply the concept they learn in the classroom to solve these real-life problems. We also conduct a retail expo which is a purely student-centric program. The students are coached to meet various retailers and bring them to the campus to showcase their products and services. Right from conception to the execution and post-event activities, everything is managed by the students. This way they learn coordination, teamwork, digital marketing, event management, and negotiation skills. We also take our students twice in their course span to top b-schools of India where they are trained in business and management concepts. This way they learn networking, tour management, negotiation, and people management skills.
The faculty has worked hard to achieve the status of the college what we are today
Though we are new to this area, I feel proud to say that within just two years span, we stand among the top design schools of Rajasthan. The entire credit goes to our faculty members and students who have worked very hard to nurture the design skills of our students. The students are given practical work of designing fashion portfolios, very frequently we conduct the masterclasses and workshops by renowned designers of India. As this is supposed to be a skills-based program, our main emphasis is to give more practical exposure to our students. Our students take part in almost all the fashion shows, exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, seminars, Design competitions, and any other workshop which may help them learning industry-oriented skills
The innovative way is to solve the problems of the customer through design
The design is the future. We know that these days design thinking is a buzz word which is used by many industries. It is to solve the problem of a customer in a very innovative way. So, the students are taught from the customer’s point of view. As we are nurturing the students through sound practical exposure in the form of National and International Fashion shows, workshops, seminars, Fashion tours, encouraging the students to exhibit their design portfolios in Fashion shows, Trade fairs, Interactive workshops by celebrity designers etc. . Though it is not about fashion design or interior design it is about creativity and innovation. So we don’t make designers we make designers of repute. And as everyone is aware good designers are in high demand at the Fashion studios, Export houses, Real estate & Architectural firms, Automobile Industry, Furniture manufacturer and exporters, decorators, furnishing designers, Merchandising where Poddar Training and Placement Cell has already a strong liaison with.
