Healthy relations are established by promoting the well-being of staff members and students. Fellow faculty members are involved in decision-making as well as in the implementation of new innovative pedagogy in the teaching-learning process.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach to subjects and make them industry-oriented?

The internship is an integral component of our curriculum during which students gain industry-based exposure either in Hospitals as interns in the dietetics department, food analysis labs, or in certain Governmental organizations (e.g. Niti Ayog, NCPCR, SCPCR), Non-Governmental Organizations like (the UNICEF, CRY, SAVE the Children, Teach for India, etc.),

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?

Our department offers courses in the fields of Home Science, Clinical Dietetics and Food Science, and Quality Management along with certain Career Oriented and Skill Development courses. Students opting for these professional courses have good chances of placement in varied sections like hospitals, food labs, public health sector, non-government organizations, preschools, special schools, and Entrepreneurs. Many students also opt for a post-graduation and further research in this field considering the vast spectrum of opportunities available in the future.

How do you help your student cope with the highly competitive world?

Students are regularly motivated and guided to pursue courses both online and offline via platforms like Coursera, and Internshala with their regular curriculum so that whenever they step out into the competitive world they are well equipped to face and beat the competition. Additionally, exposure to public speaking, participation in workshops, seminars, etc., grooms their soft skills which are essential in the present scenario.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the students' skills or expose them to real-world challenges?

Extracurricular activities both at Departmental Level and University level are important features of our Institution that help students identify with the crowd and gain quality social exposure. Community outreach activities and activities targeting skill development are organized on a regular basis.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

The past years were impacted by the COVID pandemic making it quite a challenge to keep the students connected with us. However, thanks to ICT approaches which proved to be a great assistance in difficult situations, the adoption of new innovative and Technology-based approaches helped in making the teaching-learning process successful in the Virtual mode though it was quite challenging.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from the curriculum to train/teach the students?

At our University we offer a Dynamic learning environment keeping in mind the practical approach and apart from the curriculum we organize lectures of eminent speakers from fields of Academics, Research as well as the industry.
