Prof. (Dr.) Shubha Sharma is Dean & Professor of Faculty of Education and Presiding officer of ICC ( Internal Complaint Committee ) at Dr. K N .Modi University, Rajasthan. She holds 20 years of teaching experience along with administrative and research work. She has published 12 published researches paper and is an author of a published book. She has chaired various National and International Conferences and published a large number of papers in conferences. She believes that her profession holds the power to bring out the change in society. She never leaves any stone unturned in the guidance needed by her students.
What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
“Democratic Leadership is always the leadership style I prefer”
Being the Dean, Faculty of Education, I believe in teamwork facilitation, discussion & collaboration. My style is always participative leadership styles which are based on democratic theory. The essence is to involve team members in the decision making process to feel included, engaged and motivated to contribute.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“The opportunity of Lifelong learning and achieving”
I have a long association in the field of education with the experience of eighteen years. In my professional career, I find myself as a lifelong learner. Main key factor of education is inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all ( stated as the same in the New Education Policy 2020 agenda reflected in the Goal 4 (SDG4) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by India in 2015 ).
When you first came to the university, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
“The overall transformation in educational structure to raise the level of achievements”
I have joined this university in 2017 with a vision of transformation in education for the students. The teachers were focused on disciplinary knowledge, problem solving skills, leadership quality and holistic development. To achieve the same, I have started a Personality Empowerment programme with Self-defense training, Multiple pedagogy based Workshops and oriented Faculty Development programme, Micro Teaching Workshops, and Cultural activity based traditional programmes too.
Being the Dean, Faculty of Education, how do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your University?
“Open Communication and Mutual understanding are the ways for making healthy environment”
I always keep trying to connect with my students and my colleagues too with open and honest Communication. I always respect and appreciate them for maintaining healthy relations. There is a way of mutual respect and understanding for the conflict resolutions. I make it my responsibility to let students and faculties know that I am available for any kind of problem they might be facing.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
“Improve your skills to develop your personality”
I only give this simple message to the current youth for maximum utilization of time with positive productive learning. They must focus on enhancing their multiple capabilities of life skills. I truly believe these statements of Swami Vivekananda for the Youth Students –BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND THE WORLD WILL BE AT YOUR FEET & ARISE, AWAKE AND STOP NOT TILL GOAL IS REACHED.
What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for Dr. K. N. Modi University?
“Continuous growth and enhancement of every stream of the University”
I am focused on the continuous growth and development of the university. In the teacher education department, we are planning to start all Integrated Courses, Post Graduates Programme and N.T.T of teacher education. The objective is to create the best for the students by enhancing our resources and quality of academia. There is no stop at improvement and we tend to improve at every possible aspect of the University.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Dr. K. N. Modi University specifically?
“Different hurdles to overcome as a country and as a University”
Both K . N Modi and India in a generalized way have their specific challenges to overcome. In higher education in general there are many challenges in India such as Privatization, quality education, unemployment etc. India has bigger hurdles to carry on with in the field of education. Whereas, I don’t feel there is any specific problem at University. Here we have a mentoring system which is always beneficial for guiding and motivating the students personally and professionally.
What goals do you have in your mind for the university for next few years?
“Collaborating with the International Universities for better chance of exploration”
I have been giving my best efforts for student teaching and learning and my heartfelt wish for the DKNMU be as an Internationally Acclaimed University, recognized for excellence in teaching learning, research and Outreach. The relations going globally is a major step for the University and I intend to give my best shot at every kind of help needed to make this relation work and profitable for the students of my University.
