Dr. K Sriprasad is presently working as the Principal at Thirumalai Engineering College, Kanchipuram. With a Ph.D. in Secure Data Transactions and Access in Cloud Computing, he has several years of teaching and research experience, and has held many positions throughout his career. He has also been the Incharge of Training and Placement for the College and has organized various student-oriented events and sessions.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Collecting, disseminating and evaluating information”

I collect lesson plans from teaching staff and ensure that the information provided is in accordance with the designed format and prepared as per the guidelines for the maximum benefit of students. I interact with students on a regular basis, identify the problems and find solutions in consultation with other board and faculty members. Also, I collect the student feedback about the faculty member’s subject wise and communicate the feedback to the concerned faculty members in the standard format. This enhances the transparency as well as trust among the students. I encourage students to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities as well and guide the students in the performance of practical tasks and skill exercises, and evaluate their performance. I advise and assist the students in their project work also. 

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the fellow faculty?

“Positive interactions and guidance”

I report positive connections with my colleagues and use a friendly and caring approach about the co-workers as well. We at our college always try to build respect and trust with each other. I enhance my coworkers as accepting and encouraging, as well as collaborative and supportive of each other’s success. I make them feel more comfortable to communicate openly with colleagues, and help if needed. 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards the subjects?

“Diverse learning aspects and practices”

Problem-based learning, Student-created content, Collaborative learning and Competency-based education are our key approaches to bring in practicality. We enhance active learning and participation of students through Blended learning, Flipped learning and Integrated subjects that increase student attention and focus as well. Being positive in all actions, being specific in the praise, formulating an organized plan, and by explaining to the students about our plans we help them through their journey. We simplify the skill categories and provide good advice and counselling to improve students’ performance. By improving students' questioning in the class and their oral communication we are able to build them more confident and skillful. Also, we conduct sports activities at our college campus by conducting inter-departmental sports and athletics events. We encourage cultural events to expose our students' hidden skills like public speaking skills, or dancing/singing.
