Dr. Mohan Awasthy is presently serving as the Principal at Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai. He possesses more than 22 years of teaching, research and industrial experience and has published 22 research papers in various International & National Journals and Conferences. Along with serving at various organizations as Principal, Dean Academics, PG Coordinator, HOD and TPO, he is a Senior Member of IEEE, and Member and Fellow of many National and International Organizations of repute. He is presently acting as reviewer of many International and National journals as well.

What would you like people to know about RCET that they might not know?

RCET Bhilai is a known name to reckon in the field of Students placement. We are providing the best placement opportunities to our students. And if students are interested in start-ups, all the technical and financial support are provided by the Incubation Centre of the Institute to help them achieve their target. Also, for the last three years, RCET Bhilai has started 'Rungta Student Development Cell' working in campus for the holistic development of students. All the activities in this cell are planned and conducted by the students elevating their leadership and management skills as well. Institute is also having a functional Incubation Centre where projects of the students are made available in the market for commercial use. Print Pay, Toodle projects are working successfully in the market through this initiative. 

What are the latest programs you're offering and how they are best for students?

Rungta College of Engineering and Technology has started new UG Program in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Leaning keeping in mind the future requirement of Industry. The Institute is also having UG program Agriculture Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Mining Engineering. We are enabling our students with highest placement in central India, and Vibrant and Functional Business Incubator to improve their skills accordingly. We bestow World class Infrastructure with best Technical Labs, lessons delivered by Learned and motivated Faculty. We offer training and workshops for students apart from curriculum to bridge the gap of Industrial demand.

Every Year RCET, Bhilai organizes HR Conclave, where HR professionals from the leading Industry are Interacting with student in campus. They tell the student the demand of

Industry, future technology industry going to use and quality the students should have to work in Industry. Institute has also signed MOU with Harvard University for certificate program for faculty and student. MOU are also signed with many other Industries for the training of students and faculty. We have tied up with leading players in the industry and has established Inhouse Training Academy of Coursera, Red Hat, Go Daddy, AWS, EC Council, Paloalto, Cisco, Blueprism, Microsoft, Pearson etc. Preplacement Training apart from curriculum and International Conference and expert talks are organized fir students to interact with worlds best Research Scholars.

How do you tend to build an industry connection? 

“Active Training and Placement cell and industrial tie-ups”

Training and placement department are in touch with all the leading companies of India. We are organizing HR conclave every year to meet the HR manager of Industry. HR manager interact with faculty and student. They explain the demand of industry and help the faculty to identify the gap in curriculum. Students of pre final start preparing them self as per the guidance giving the HR professionals. We have Industry-Academia Collaboration with Texas Instruments-USA, TCS, Capgemini, Kirloskar Brothers, Tata International, Etc. Student co-curricular activities and Incubation Centre are endowed to foster overall development of students and preparing them market ready. 

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Establiahing a positive work culture to maximize their growth”

Being the head of the Institute, my responsibility is to create academic environment in the campus and to build an administrative system where students are free from all pressure. In the campus student enjoy the teaching and learning. If they face any difficulty in academics or in personal matter they should interact with their faculty or HOD or Principal without any fear. My responsibility being the head is to develop transparent academic environment where student respect the system and should gain maximum benefits from our experience. 

How did you train your faculty to deliver this program to the students?

“Inside and outside training activities for faculty”

All the faculty members are trained in latest technology via workshops and seminars being organized in the campus on a regular basis. We not only train our student but faculty as well. Faculty are also motivated to participat e in conferences, workshops and training at national and international level outside the institute that help them gain relevant experience. 

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Live in the present preparing for the future”

Never take the pressure of competition and give your best always. In future, one should not regret that if in that time I work hard my life may be at some different position. So, keep going, do whatever it takes and live in present moment for happiness. Remember, hard work always pays off.
