What are your roles and responsibilities towards the university and students?

“To provide the best education and ethical values through my guidance”

As I am a member of the board of studies in Mechanical Engineering, I am responsible for the revision of the syllabus along with another member of the board of studies. I personally encourage my students to learn new skills, take up online courses offered by foreign universities and take up live problems and find solutions for the same. I always try to inculcate and imbibe good values in my students along with their regular academics so that they become good human beings along with good engineers.

What inbound a student can gain from studying here in your institute?

“Practical education have aligned our programs as per NAAC and NBA suggestions”

As we are accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council and National Board of Accreditation, we strongly believe in Outcome Based Education and we follow it very rigorously so that our graduates become fully conversant and attain all program outcomes mentioned by NBA as per Washington Accord and become good engineers to serve the society.

How does the curriculum of college ensure the best practices of industry?

“We have initiated multiple programs as per industry needs and also conduct professional talks”

As we are affiliated to University of Mumbai, we follow the curriculum designed by university, but there are many initiatives our college has taken over last few years to bridge the gap between industry and academia like project base learning, regular talks and seminars by industry experts and professionals. In project-based learning, students are given open-ended problems and they are required to provide solution for the same.

What makes your college unique in comparison to others?

“We have been acknowledged by NAAC for offering the best education and have direct tie-ups with MNCs”

As you know, PCE is recently accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade and my Mechanical Department is also accredited by NBA along with other departments. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with many companies and this helps our students and staff to work on live projects through various internships with all such companies. Our students are encouraged to participate in a national level competition like Smart India Hackathon, Chhatra Vishkarma award and they have been regular winners of these competitions, students have also participated in International events like Youth Assembly, United Nations. We have three car-making teams: SPARK, VANGUARD and HYPERION and students do participate in national as well as international competitions and have been winners in these competitions.

What are the greatest strengths of your college?

“Our teaching staff and infrastructure are our main pillars”

We do have qualified, experienced and motivated faculty members who are always ready to take up challenges and help us to achieve our college goals. PCE has also many infrastructural facilities that are available to students where they can work on their projects, full-fledged Maker Space having laser cutting machines, 3D printing machines, CNC machines, tinkering workstations, etc. which students can use to build projects and inventions.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see with respect to employment for youths?

“Lack of opportunities in industry and startup ideas to improve the economy”

In recent years, there were definitely issues of jobs in the core industry but I personally feel that due to increase in Foreign direct investment and Government initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat, the manufacturing sector would bloom in near future and there will be a lot of jobs in core sectors apart from jobs in service sectors.

How do you establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute?

“We all work as a team and keep an open environment to communicate”

In PCE, good things and values percolate from the top management to faculty, staff and students, like the sense of belongingness, total employee involvement, responsibility towards society and the environment, this all help us to have cordial relationships, respect for each other and to maintain harmony among all the stakeholder.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Be fierce and learn new skills to tackle challenges in real life”

Today’s youth are the future of our country and society, so they need to be guided properly. I personally feel that along with their regular curriculum learning in whatever field they are in, they are required to learn and develop skill sets and explore the same to solve real-life problems. They should be trained on experiential learning and life skills so that they do not shiver to take up any challenge in life.
