Dr. P. Gomathi is the Principal of Study World College of Engineering, Coimbatore. She is a dynamic academician and administrator with experience of 23 years in this field. She has received the Distinguished women Administrators Award, Outstanding women achiever Award, Best Technology Faculty Award and many more. She has received a total fund of about 1.25 crores for Research projects, Entrepreneurial and Skill Development activities from various funding agencies. She has a distinguished record in publishing international journals, conference papers and a Patent. With an outstanding record in academics, teaching and administration, she has also motivated students towards entrepreneurship and inculcated a start-up ecosystem in the campus.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The ability to interact with the younger generation and exchange knowledge”

I am very interested in moving with the youngsters and their community. We can make many changes with those people. If the attitude of a youngster is very good, he or she becomes a very good part of society. The role of an academician has been fruitful and very positive.


What is your philosophy of leadership? 

“To lead from the front and be a passionate colleague”

Leadership for me is not just exercising power and authority. It is about accomplishing the objectives and goals of the institute by playing a responsible role in the organization. Also, by emphasizing more on team spirit so that the members of the team could handle their responsibility. I believe in a democratic leadership style in which all the team members are equally involved in all the decisions and activities. 


What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next five or ten years?

“Imparting quality education to the students has been my utmost priority”

The institute’s top priority over the next 10 years is to excel at both research and education, while also promoting academic excellence and social inclusion, seamlessly integrating on-campus and digital education, and delivering a flexible and personalized education.

How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Training sessions, FDP’s and expert seminars to train them in latest teaching trends”

Our faculty members are very experienced and qualified. To enhance their skills further we are planning the faculty development programs and also organising the industrial training. We support faculty exchange programs as well. So, if they want, they can visit universities in other countries for three to six months to gain appropriate training.
