Dr.C.Natarajan is serving as the Principal at Hindusthan Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. He has more than 25 years of teaching and administrative experience, and has published 43 national and international journals, and has guided 4 Ph.D. scholars and 25 M.E/M.Tech. students. Also, he is a reviewer in International Journals, such as Composites part B: Engineering An International Journal (Elsevier), International Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology (Springer), International Journal of Machining Science and Technology (Taylor and Francis), etc.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the educational sector?

I keenly enjoy the exchange of experience and knowledge between teachers and students, this leaves a positive impact on both sides. Also, High Learning Productivity and Enhancing the careers of many students keep me on-going to learn and acquire more. I am connected with emerging technologies and fields in and off engineering, that always encourage me and never lets me feed away.
How would you describe your leadership?
“Directly influencing and cooperating”
I lead by example and facilitate communication among the team members. I believe in delegating and making others better through simplifying policies and diversifying tasks. I take the lead on projects, and stay involved and inspire my team by showing that I’m working hands-on to help them, too.
How does the curriculum of the Institute ensure the best practice of industry?
“Opportunities and guidance to cater the industrial needs”
As Hindusthan Institute of Technology is an autonomous institution, the Board of Studies (BOS) which comprises nominees from leading companies has framed a syllabus with the requirements of industries. We make the students get skills that the industry requires through various events and programs held throughout the year like seminars, workshops, etc.. To bridge the gap between industry and institution, and to introduce the latest industry trends, courses with a credit of 1 have been introduced and are taught to students by experts from the industry and the students are examined as well. Also, students are motivated to complete more certification courses to get them multiskilled so as to meet industry requirements.
What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the students are?
“Facilitating student success with quality inputs”
To make my students established engineers with multi-skilled in all their interest areas so as to perform better in all the areas like placement, higher education and entrepreneurship is my prime role as a teacher. I aspire to provide quality improvement and sustenance so that students can learn better. I inculcate and add emerging technological courses with best-in-class infrastructure to help them succeed with bright colours.

What latest program do you offer at HIT that helps students outperform?
“Advance AI and Data Science providing futuristic view”
Two emerging platforms B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and B.Tech Pharmaceutical Engineering are introduced for students to outperform in their fields. Also, at a departmental level, many certification courses with respect to every department are introduced to cope-up with their industry requirements. Because of the Digitalization of today’s world, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science will provide excellent scope for the students and at times of pandemic like Covid Scenario Pharmaceutical Engineering, offers an excellent platform to innovate new things to make society better.
How do you bring in a practical approach towards these programs?
“Interactive training at industrial levels”
The curriculum for the courses are designed in association with leading industries in the corresponding fields. As various industries are integrated with the institution, the students get exposure to the industrial environments and develop their skills accordingly, which in turn helps them to excel in their perceptive fields like academics, placement and entrepreneurship. We also offer internships, mini-projects and motivate students to participate in national and international competitions like Hackathons to gain practical experience. Industries like IBM, SIEMENS, etc. are integrated into the curriculum. Along with that Center for Excellences in the fields of Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical, Pharmaceutical provide excellent platforms for students and faculties to emerge.

Pharmaceutical Engineering students working in the areas of optimization of Drug delivery, disposition and related dynamics.

“Strong mentor-mentee system, and quality associated features”
The mentoring system of our institution is a stand-alone feature. Where the students will have an experienced mentor who will help them throughout academics, placement and entrepreneurship, in all aspects so that they can fly out as excellent engineers. The institutes have a great infrastructure, faculties, industry association, alumni and various senior visiting faculties from academia and industry. The institution has signed MOU with the TRIBHUVAN UNIVERSITY, NEPAL. We are also planning to do more in the future.
