What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
"My passion for teaching and improving the life of youths is the biggest factor behind my so-long association with the education sector"
I started my professional journey several years back and worked under the Central Government with the Nationalist of Hydrology at Roorkee and from there I joined BIT Kolkata- a unit of Techno India Group. And from the start, teaching is my passion and I love to explore things and do research on a wide variety of topics. So all these factors together have kept me associated with the education sector.
In your experience, what benefits students will get by studying in your college?
"Students will get a diverse range of courses to study and global industrial exposure here"
We are offering Undergraduate courses in disciplines like Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Biotechnology and all of these are in high demand in industries. In addition to this, we have a dedicated team of highly qualified and experienced faculties, a very good and positive environment for teaching-learning processes and enhancing an individual's skills. So, overall students will get the best education, facilities, opportunities, and industrial exposure in our college.
How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
"We accept students’ applications for admission from all over the nation and any kind of inequality is strictly prohibited on campus"
We have students from rural as well as urban backgrounds and from multiple states as well like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, etc. So this diversity clearly explains that we accept applications from different parts of the country and we give admission to our students with an open heart. Also, we do not charge any kind of extra amount from any student and give equal learning opportunities to everyone. However, students’ admissions are from WBJEE and JEE-Main.
What do you think should be your college's top priority in the upcoming 5-10 years?
"Our priority should be to get more accreditations from reputed authorities and maintain our college reputation"
Our college has recently received the B++ accreditation from NAAC and now we aspire to receive accreditations from NBA and NIRF in the upcoming time. And our Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC) is performing so well in Eastern India, as a college, that we have got awards and a 4-star rating in the recent past, and we want to maintain the same repo in upcoming years.

When you first came to BIT, what was your vision for the institute?
"My aim was to improve the research facilities of our college and provide the best education to students"
When I joined BIT, my prime objective was to elevate the Research and Development activities of our college as there was less scope for R&D. I believe that for offering a better learning experience to students and improving the teaching-learning methodologies, providing proper facilities to students and teachers to experiment with their ideas is very crucial.
What makes your college unique and different from others?
"The education quality and industrial exposure we offer to students makes us different from others"
Our college offers the best quality and employment-oriented education to students and we do not spend much on advertisements just like other institutions. Because we know everything need not be showcased and our students' academic results, everything about our achievements and efforts we put in to make them ready for the corporate world and society. And if I take an example here, if anyone would visit my profile on Google, they will find that I am a Google Scholar, I have got a number of publications in my name and I am an international Scientist. In addition to this, I have worked rigorously in the field of Hydrology including environmental & water quality aspects because Biotechnology deals with wastewater and water treatment, as well as all other things, which are related to the environment, so for sure this domain will have a big market in the upcoming time. These kinds of courses are of great importance and we put a lot of effort into educating students.
What do you see as your institute's greatest strengths?
"Our students and teachers are our biggest source of strength"
The greatest strength of our college is our highly qualified and experienced faculty members, and students; the amazing relationship that our teachers and students have maintained with each other. Also, one of our students recently received 1st prize in the UNESCO- India- Africa Hackathon, not only in Bengal but in the eastern India region along with 1st prize in Smart India Hackathon 2022, so this also adds to our strength because we are the only institute in our whole region who received two prestigious awards in a row.
