Dr. Krishnendu Adhvaryu has more than 20 years of experience in the education industry. He is presently serving as Principal of Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering, West Bengal. He holds great education qualification from NIT, Durgapur, West Bengal. He has been an immense support for his students and is a pillar of his institute.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“Participative leadership with open communication to create awareness of all the activities”

I follow participative leadership with proper control over every activity of the college. I lead by example and delegating and finding strength in our Professors so that they can deliver and communicate with students in the best way. We create open communication with faculties and students to have a managed decorum.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The pursuit of knowledge and opportunity to learn new things”

The key factor that has made me connected with the education sector is the pursuit of knowledge and the opportunity to learn new things. It has the freedom to communicate with youths and implement new pedagogical techniques and learning strategies to make students better.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“The marketing derived by students to instigate the participation of other students”

I with my Academic committee members (Comprising of all HOD’s) formulates policy so that all educators and stakeholders — including parents, teachers, administrators, board members, and student community — are working towards the same goals.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your Institute?

“The practiced faculty to strengthen the base of the students for an inbound gain to them”

We have faculty members with everyone at least holding experience of 12+ years in the educational sector. This sector of the institute has great enhancing impacts on the growth of students in the Country. As a developing nation, the Indian education system has been developed on the pillars that support thorough theoretical knowledge and prepare the students for some of the toughest competitive exams in the world.

How does the curriculum of your Institute ensure the best practice of industry?

“Bridging the gap for preparing students to be industry-ready with training and work experience”

In formulating the curriculum of our Institute the methodology we follow is based on education and innovation in the industry, current trends in the job market are also considered while formulating the class routine where in addition to the existing methodology of theoretical knowledge current trends in the industry are also taught to students. We follow tie-ups with various firms for an internship to the graduating students to prepare them industry-ready. We give our best to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and experiential knowledge.

Any insights into how your Institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“We promote anti-racism and don’t discriminate among students in anyways”

We as an institute don’t discriminate among students and support every talent of each student studying at our college. We don’t consider any of our students based on caste, races, religion, and helps to maintain a healthy environment with unity among all. BUIE has a standing principle on which our mentor (Chairman, BUIE) has formulated guidelines and we provide several opportunities for people from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students are? 

“The principal has responsibilities and roles to be fulfilled at every stage”

The Principal is part of an administrative team, whose function is to support and assist the Institute in meeting the overall objectives of the Institute and the needs of individual students. The role of the Principal is to provide leadership, direction, and coordination within the school. The Principal's main focus should be to develop and maintain effective educational programs within BUIE and to promote the improvement of teaching and learning with the institute. The Principal should strive to create an organization and or climate which fosters student and teacher growth. 

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Stepping up with new technologies and new areas of technical courses”

 In the next 10 years, our priority is to make this a University of repute in the Eastern region, where research and development including Ph.D. work is carried out in theoretical as well as the practical field in Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, solar power, Robotics is carried out.

What do you see as BUIE’s greatest strengths?

“The establishment for service to rural areas and gaining success in it”

  • BUIE plays important role in nation-building as it is placed in a very rural setting.
  • The institute nurtures research on transformational technologies that have the potential to address the societal challenges faced in India today. A fine example is research in, “Motorized Dhenki for production of Brown rice” which has the potential to bring revolution to rural women in nutritional value as well as economic upliftment.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Do not be a follower, create your path”

Avoid being part of the crowd. Without being a loner, you can separate yourself from the group of people who are not involved in positive things and still have a social life. Pursue your dream and work hard to attain. Study hard in your college days and enjoy a fulfilling and satisfying life thereafter.
