At Saarland University, the study of philosophy is?

• systematic: philosophy is concerned primarily with addressing and examining philosophical questions, and only secondarily with the history of philosophical thought.
• analytical: philosophy is bound by the constraints of logic and by the ideals of clarity and rigour.
• cooperative: philosophy maintains close ties to other academic disciplines, such as those with a strong mathematical structure like physics, informatics and economics, but also to disciplines such as law, classical philology, theology, art history and musicology.
