Bioinformatics is an up-and-coming academic subject and research area that combines modern information sciences (informatics, mathematics, and statistics) with the life sciences (biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, biotechnology, and food technology). Bioinformatics deals with questions of informatics that arise with the application of new technologies and a rapidly growing quantity of data in the life sciences.The core of the degree consists of an interdisciplinary vocational education and training in biology, chemistry, informatics, and statistics.In addition to the master’s internship, during the first three semesters, the central focus is on elective courses from all areas of study, which can be selected according to one’s own interests and specializations pursued.

There are no tuition fees per law in Germany.In order to study at TUM you do, however, have to pay the student union fee and a solidarity contribution for the Semester Ticket.

There is zero tuition fees for all students at TUM. However all the students are entitled to pay a semester fee of 147.40€ ( 154.39 USD) which includes Student Union fees and the basic semester ticket for public transportation in Munich.


Eligibility & Entry Requirement

  • A bachelor's degree in bioinformatics or a comparable course is required for enrollment in the joint master's degree in bioinformatics.
  • In addition to the usual requirements for admission to university studies, successful completion of the aptitude test is required for enrolment.
  • Applicant should have english proficiency proof(TOFEL or IELTS).

  • A short tabular curriculum vitae;
  • Proof that you have acquired the university entrance qualification (in Germany: copy of the Abitur certificate). If the school-leaving certificate is not in German, English or French, an official translation must be attached (a copy is sufficient);
  • A copy of the degree certificate from the first degree. [If the final certificate from the first degree is not yet available at the time the application is submitted, the application must be accompanied by a transcript of records signed and sealed by the examination board, which shows an average grade made up of the grades of the modules successfully completed up to that point, which are included in the overall grade of the final examination.]
  • A typewritten essay of no more than 1000 words, written in German or English by yourself and without help, in which you explain why you want to study bioinformatics and why you feel particularly suitable for this course

To apply for the MS Automotive Engineering program of TUM, you must have completed a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university. You must demonstrate proficiency in English through a recognized language test such as TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent. Submission of GRE score is necessary for admission in this program.

To apply for the Master in Renewable Energy program of TUM you must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, natural sciences, or mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Along with this you must also have a valid ELP test score. GRE score is not optional but preferred.

International students applying for admission at TUM must submit a valid German Language Proficiency test certificate. You can check the admission requirements of the said program from BA Architecture at TUM.
