Eligibility & Entry Requirement

  • In order to be admitted to the program, applicants must have passed the first State Examination in law or have obtained a law degree from a European Union or EEA state after a standard period of study of at least four years.
  • An applicant may also be admitted if they have obtained an equivalent law degree from another foreign law faculty after a standard period of study of at least four years, provided they submit reasoned expert opinions from two university lecturers entitled to teach independently at that faculty, which show that the applicant’s final grade is among the best 30% of the graduates of the same examination year and that they are completely suitable for studying in accordance with the study regulations. The examination board decides on the equivalence of such a law degree.
  • Language skills that are necessary to successfully complete the period of study abroad are not an admission requirement. This does not affect the language skills required by the university at which the period of study abroad is completed. This also applies to complete the period of study abroad at Leipzig University.
