Established in 1860, Bauhaus University was originally founded as the Great Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar, Germany. It became a public institution in 1902 and was renamed Bauhaus by Walter Gropius. The term ‘Bauhaus’ stands for an eagerness to experiment, openness, creativity, and internationality.
It offers more than 40 undergraduate and postgraduate programs through its four faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Art and Design, Civil Engineering, and Media.
With more than 4000 students enrolled, 450 are international students. Bauhaus has partnered up with 273 universities worldwide and stands true to its motto of internationality.

Bauhaus University Campus
- It is located in Weimar, Germany. Its campus is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- It has a huge library with over 5,000 square meters of usable floor space and a collection of approximately 488,500 books.
- With students run initiatives such as Bauhaus FM—the student radio station, Eject - the journal of Media Studies, Micro - the official independent publication medium, etc. it provides a plethora of opportunities to engage and grow.
Bauhaus University Residence
- It does not provide on-campus housing but students can choose from student housings, shared flats, or private flats.
- Furnished rooms are available for rent in student housings. They all are single rooms with shared bathrooms and kitchens. One has to rent a room for at least 6 months at a minimum. Shorter rental terms are possible but the rent is more costly.
- If in Weimar there is no place to stay, then you can take a room at a hostel. You can pick from two hostels in Weimar: the Labyrinth Hostel at Goethe Platz 6 or Jugendherbergen Thüringen.

- Undergraduate admissions: High School Diploma
- Master’s admissions: Bachelor's degree in the subject-specific field with a good grade.
- Certified Original Document Copies
- German/English Language Proficiency as required according to the medium of instruction of the particular program.
- English: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL PBT - 550, TOEFL IBT - 79
- German: DHS-2 certificate or TestDaf certificate with a minimum score of TDN4

Bauhaus University Cost of Attendance
Bauhaus University does not charge tuition fee. Students are required to submit semester fees. Some programs may require a handling fee such as Masters Programme AdUrb requires a handling charge of 2,000 EUR and a lessened semester fee of approx. 65 EUR.
