What is KCET? 

KCET or Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority for admission to undergraduate Engineering, Architecture, Yoga and Naturopathy, Veterinary, Farm Science, and Pharma Courses. Candidates who wish to seek admission to Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Unani and Homeopathy courses would be required to qualify in UGNEET 2023 while admission to Architecture courses would be through NATA 2023.

KCET Application Form has been released on March 2, 2023. Candidates can download the application from the official website in order to avoid making any errors at the time of submission of the application form. The steps for filling KCET 2023 Application Form are:

  • Visit the official website- kea.kar.nic.in
  • Click on “UGCET 2023 Online Application”. 
  • Candidates should first register with their mobile number and email id.
  • On successful registration, an Application Number and User ID will be generated. Candidates can create a password that will be used to log in for filling KCET 2023 Application Form.
  • After logging in, candidates can fill KCET Application Form by filling in general information and study details.
  • After successfully saving the details, upload scanned images of the photograph, candidate signature, and parent signature.
  • Before selecting a declaration, candidates can take a draft printout to ensure all the details entered are correct.

To appear in KCET 2023, candidates need to meet the basic KCET Eligibility 2023. Each program has different eligibility norms. From the official website, candidates can make necessary changes on the online application form. KCET Eligibility criteria 2023 is tabulated below.

Candidate should have passed 12th standard with minimum 45% aggregate in Physics and Mathematics with Chemistry/BioTechnology/Biology/Electronics and Computer. (40% for Reserved category candidates) English should be a compulsory subject. 

Farm Science Courses- B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture, Sericulture, Horticulture, Forestry, Technology, Community Science, Agriculture Engineering, Food Technology, D.Tech, Fisheries, Agri-Business Management

KCET 2023 Exam Pattern

KCET 2023 will be conducted on May 20-21, 2023. The test will be conducted in four sessions for four subjects- Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The exam pattern for KCET 2023 is:

  • Mode of KCET- Pen-Paper-based examination (Offline Mode)

To download the admit card, candidates need to go to the official website. Given below is the detailed procedure for downloading KCET 2023 Admit Card:

KCET 2023 Answer Key

Candidates can download KCET 2023 Answer Key from the official website. They need to remember the following points regarding the answer key:

  • To challenge KCET Answer Key, candidates need to fill up an application form by addressing to the “Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore”, either in person or through SPEED POST/email: keauthority‐ka@nic.in
  • After the evaluation of the answer key, the final KCET Answer Key 2023 will be released. The decision of the authorities will be final and no complaints about otherwise will be entertained.
  • After the release of the final answer key, no further objections will be considered.
  • The Answer Key that the Expert Committee approved will be considered for determining the merit list.

KCET 2023 Paper Analysis

KCET 2023 is yet to be conducted. Candidates can through the previous years’ paper analysis for their reference.

Biology Paper Analysis: The difficulty level of KCET 2022 Biology Paper was rated easy to moderate, according to the students. The paper was not time-consuming and had a good attempt of 45+ questions. The 2nd year PUC syllabus and Genetics had the maximum weightage in the question paper. 

Mathematics Paper Analysis: According to the students, KCET 2022 Mathematics paper was very lengthy and time-consuming. The paper was rated difficult in terms of difficulty. The question paper had a good attempt of 30+ questions. Most of the questions in KCET 2022 Mathematics paper were based on Calculus and Differential Equations.

Physics Paper Analysis: As per the students’ reaction, KCET 2022 Physics paper was unexpected and rated difficult to moderate level of difficulty.The question paper had an average good attempt of 35+ questions. The topic that had the maximum weightage were Magnetism and Electricity.

Chemistry Paper Analysis: The difficulty level of KCET 2022 Chemistry paper was rated easy compared to the other subjects. The paper was  ot that much time consuming and had a good attempts of 45+ questions. Most of the questions were formula based and asked from Chemical Kinetics, Phenols, Ethers, Ethenols.

KCET 2023 Counselling

KCET 2023 Counselling rounds is going to be conducted after the declaration of the results. In the counseling process, registered candidates need to register again via online mode and enter their preferences of courses and colleges on the online application form. Only the candidates who qualify for KCET 2023 will be eligible for the counseling process.

KCET Cut off

KCET Cutoff 2023

KCET 2023 Cutoff will be released by examination authorities, KEA separately for different courses. The minimum qualifying marks for KCET 2023 will be released by KEA. However, candidates can check previous year qualifying cut off for KCET.

The minimum qualifying cut off for General category candidates for previous year was 50% while SC/ST/OBC category candidates were required to score a minimum of 40% in KCET.

KCET 2023 Merit List

After the official announcement of KCET Result 2023, a merit list will be set and released by the concerned authority. The list will contain the name of the candidate who will qualify the entrance test. Based on various criteria of the programs, the merit list will be released. To secure a seat in any institute that offers the program, candidates need to check the merit list once it is available on the website.

  • If the merit of two or more candidates is same, the interest merit will be determined by the marks obtained by the candidates in Biology in Karnataka CET 2023. This will be used for Naturopathy and Yoga courses.
  • For Engineering and Technology courses, scores obtained in Mathematics will be considered.
  • If two or more candidates obtain the same marks in KCET 2023 then the marks obtained in Chemistry will be used for determining the interest merit in Naturopathy and Yoga courses while marks obtained in Physics will be considered for determining the interest merit for Engineering and Technology courses. 
  • Engineering, Architecture, Farm Science, B-Pharm and Pharm-D ranks will be assigned to the candidates on the basis of merit determined by KEA.
