Ans. One of my friends studied at NIT Goa. According to him, In the recent placement drive of 2021, the students of NIT Goa were offered the highest packages compared to the placement drives of the previous years.  One of the students who completed the M.Tech course got a package that offered INR 14.3 LPA.  The companies that have made offers to the students this year are Siemens, Goldman Sachs, TCS, Samsung, Mphasis, Samsung, etc. In the department of CSE, out of the 27 eligible students, all 27 of them got placed, making their placement program a complete success.  Over 45 companies have visited NIT Goa in 2021 so far; surpassing the tally of the previous three years. If we talk about facilities, the labs have computers that are high end and run on Linux and Windows operating systems.  The internet connection provided, leaves no room for complaints. The campus is wifi enabled too. The faculty is helpful and cooperative. Categories M.Tech in CSE at NIT Goa Course Fee 2.01 lakh Highest CTC 8-9 LPA Average CTC 4.2 LPA Recruiting Companies Wipro, Infosys, TCS, IBM, etc. So it is suggested that if you want to opt for M.Tech in CSE from NIT Goa, you may go for it. Ans. IITs offer better placements for MTech in Computer Science. ISI Kolkata offers fewer core Computer Science job profiles. Most opportunities offered at the institute are for M.Stat and MSQE students. But if you want a career as a Data Scientist, it will be a better choice. ISI Kolkata placements are the best in the country for analytics. However, the recruiting companies usually prefer M.Stat/MSQE students over M.Tech.  According to the recent placement highlights M.Tech CS students of ISI usually receive a median CTC of around INR 18.6 LPA.  In terms of research too, join ISI Kolkata, if you want to work on something related to analytics or big data, etc. If you want a traditional career path in CS, then IITs will be better. Read more

Ques. How is the placement of a M.tech CS like in ISI Kolkata?

Ans. One of my friends is an alumnus of ISI Kolkata and here is his insight into the placements for MTech CS.  The job profiles offered by ISI are mostly from Data Analytics. You will not get many CS core jobs from the placement drive. Don’t expect companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.  As an M.Tech(CS) student, you will have a fair knowledge about IR, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining and you can easily get jobs at these visiting companies.  In the recent placement drive, the highest package offered was INR 25 to 28 LPA while the average was INR 10 to 12 LPA. ISI offers good job opportunities, but it is limited to a particular domain. Along with Data Analytics companies, few R&D centers like TCS Innovation, Infosys R&D, visit the placement drive.  Other than that you can apply for summer internships and if you perform well you will receive PPOs. But if you are expecting a job strictly related to your field after the compilation of your masters then don’t choose ISI. Ans. M.Tech CS at ISI Kolkata isn’t just for CSE graduates. The student crowd includes students from all engineering streams. So, in the first year, ISI encourages students from non-CSE backgrounds to learn coding and study computer science courses. While CSE students are encouraged to take Mathematics courses such as Algebra, or Probability.  Second year course curriculum can seem a little boring for students with CS background. As the major chunk of the curriculum includes Algorithms, Networking, DBMS, etc. But you should use this opportunity to brush up on these subjects. You will also have the option to do research work, during the course tenure. Pursuing a research project can be really helpful if you are interested in doing a Ph.D. or an internship afterward.  In the second year, you will be allowed to choose a course of your choice. Try to take a subject that is relevant to your thesis work. The coursework in the third year can get extremely hectic, you will have to work on your thesis, start preparing for placement or PhD, and work on five subjects. Read more

The placement figures of IIIT Bangalore have always been promising.  Here are a few details on the 2023 placement stats for M.Tech CSE at IIIT Bangalore-  The highest CTC stood at INR 65 LPA, the average CTC stood at INR 24 LPA, and the median CTC stood at INR 20.7 LPA. 121 students out of a total of 144 were successfully placed. Top recruiters visited the campus for placements. This list includes- HP, Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Samsung, and Qualcomm, among other reputed names. Master’s students from CSE and ECE received higher study offers from reputed universities. The names of these universities are- IISc Bangalore, PennState, Texas A&M University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The University of Texas At Dallas, the University at Buffalo and the University of Twente.
