Ques. Would you recommended someone to do MTech in VLSI from NIT GOA? What are placement/internship opportunities there for VLSI?

● Top Answer By Sanchita Saha on 31 Aug 21

Ans. NIT Goa has a good teaching faculty for the VLSI stream. The faculty has done their PhDs from IITs and the campus also has very well-equipped labs so it provides a great learning experience. Here is a brief overview of the NIT Goa.  Category NIT Goa Companies Visited Infosys, ZS Associates, Infotech, etc. Highest Package 15.9 lakhs Average CTC  7 lakhs  Talking about the placements and internships part, Intel, NXP semiconductors offered a lot of internships in the past and there are still chances of these companies visiting again in the future. If you wish to get admitted for MTech in an NIT, it would be a better option if you opt for older and NITs first. If not, NIT Goa is also a good option.Read more

Ques. Is electronics and design technology for NIT Calicut worthy? How are the core placements for this branch?

● Top Answer By Megha Deb on 23 Mar 21

Ans. To decide a course’s worth depends not only on the subjects dealt with but also on the aptitude/expectations of the student.  It would be good to keep in mind that power electronics is quite a vast field. Electronics Design and Technology is like any other specialization offered by NITC. If you go in-depth you get to know that this course is a blend of VLSI and embedded/system design. If you are interested in the VLSI domain, then EDT is definitely your way. Most of the subjects are shared with Microelectronics & VLSI branches. Categories NIT Calicut Course Fee 5.42 lakh Placement Percentage 75-78% Highest CTC 11.37 LPA Average CTC 4.08 LPA Recruiting Companies TI, Broadcom, Nvidia, Synopsys, etc. Okay, let us take a look at the placement scenario: Placements are a bit off for M.Tech students relative to B.Tech students at NITC. Several core VLSI companies (TI, Broadcom, Nvidia, Synopsys, etc) end up hiring mostly B.Tech batch. It also depends on your academics too.  Intel usually hires interns during the second year.  These internship opportunities are available only to VLSI and EDT students mainly. Though, the chance for placement in core companies directly is relatively less. But, if you manage to maintain your CGPA on or above 8 you have a chance to get into a good internship opportunity. There will be internship opportunities available in companies like Broadcom, Intel, and Cypress. Most of these guys selected will be converted to full-time after one year of internship. You can do an internship and Second-year M.Tech main project at the same time. If you are really good you can also try for an internship from other branches like Telecom and Signal Processing.Read more

Ques. Which is the best in microelectronics IISc Bangalore or IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Amruta Bhatt on 18 Mar 23

Ans.  IIT Bombay is undoubtedly far better than IISc Bangalore in Microelectronics. It is important to understand that Microelectronics comprises sub-branches such as digital electronics, analog electronics, and devices/nanotechnology. Your choice of sub-branch will determine your course of study. If you are interested in devices/nanotechnology, then one of the biggest advantages that IIT Bombay offers is infrastructure and facilities. IIT Bombay is the only institute in the country that has a clean room and advanced lab facilities, making it an ideal place to study devices and nanotechnology. For digital electronics, IITB boasts the best possible faculty. The professors teaching digital electronics are not only respected within the institute, but they are also popular and renowned in leading industries. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the subject matter are encouraged and imparted to students. IIT Bombay campus offers a plethora of extracurricular activities, making it an ideal choice for those who like to balance their academic and personal lives. With a diverse student body, you will find people from various backgrounds, adding to your learning and social experience. B.Tech students play a crucial role in organizing extracurricular activities, making them stand out as leaders.Read more

Ques. How is the VLSI placement in NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Purvi Singhal on 22 Apr 21

Ans. The VLSI placement in NIT Calicut is average, with a slight low count in job offers, and a minimum of 50% internship offers. The table below gives a brief overview of M.Tech VLSI from NIT Calicut. Total Fees Rs. 90,460 Median Salary Offered Rs. 9 LPA Total Number of seats 25 GATE cut-off 67 Key highlights: Previously, the department of VLSI allowed only 50% of students to go for internships. This rule was set up from the batch of 2018. Previously, 50% of the whole department was allowed for internships. Though the placement count is quite less, a good internship in companies like NVIDIA and Intel would result in a good pre-placement full-time offer. For the 2021 batch, the institute allowed all students for internships, because of problems with guiding students virtually in COVID circumstances. Even if this rule is evoked in the future, the minimum 50% internship rule will be available. Therefore, the placement in VLSI at NIT Calicut is average, but with some good internship and full-time conversion offers.Read more

Ques. How is the M.Tech course for Embedded Control and Software in IIT Kharagpur?

● Top Answer By Aman Sharma on 23 Mar 23

Ans. My sister was a part of this course at IIT KGP and she found it extremely interesting and aligned with her interests. The course is industry oriented covering a number of topics like  Product Design Modeling of systems Software implementation and Verification Product Validation  Basically, all aspects of product design are covered under this course. In the First Semester, it covers topics related to Embedded systems, Control Engineering and Software Engineering and in the second semester, you are free to choose electives of your choice.  As far as placements are concerned, top big names like Robert Bosch, KPIT, Cognizant and Cypress Semiconductor visit the campus for placements. However, interdisciplinary courses face a lot of issues during placements since this course is not known to many companies. This is because it falls under a different center named ATDC(Advanced Technology Development Center)  To prepare for the interview one needs to go through concepts of signals and systems, processors and controllers, C language, and Assembly language. Read more
