Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts (SSCA), Pune is a premier state-of-the-art Culinary and Hospitality School located at Pune, India under Symbiosis International (Deemed) University. SSCA has emerged as a top culinary school in India and has Asia’s one of the best culinary and hospitality training infrastructure coupled with high quality and latest curriculum and modern teaching-learning process. The institute was established to cater the need of the Food Industry and to develop specialized culinary professionals. With a highly qualified team of professional chef instructors and industry-trained faculty members and renowned Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor as the Chair Professor, students are prepared for the varied and ever-growing culinary and hospitality professions.

The school has two separate specialization degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management respectively and three PG/UG Diploma courses. All courses incorporate unique industry-relevant training components and the latest trends in the culinary field. The teaching learning process and the industry interface is designed for maximum learning outcomes and getting the students ready for global jobs and 21st century job skills.

The institute has an active Training and Placement Cell which provides all internships through colleges and job placement assistance to its students. The recent batches of B.Sc (Culinary Arts) saw a successful placement season with students getting placed at reputed organizations and businesses. The recruiters included ITC, Oberoi, Taj Hotel and many more.  Few students have been placed in related culinary fields like the food journalism and food styling and food photography as Content Editor at Sortizy, Bangalore, or as intern at HutK Studio, Mumbai, etc. Many students realised the value of starting early as entrepreneurs and have started on their won with food businesses.

This year the entire process will be conducted online. All registered candidates have to ensure the appropriate availability of the bandwidth for the conduct of the selection process. Mentioned below are the details for the same.

How to Apply?

The candidates are required to register themselves for the Eligibility Assessment Test conducted by SSCA. The application fee for the same is INR 1250.

SSCA Selection Criteria

  1. Each candidate will have to appear for a Proctored & Timed Test on the selected dates.
  2. The candidates will thereafter undergo a Personal Interview with the selection panel.
  3. The Merit List will be announced in 7 days from the selection process.
  4. Merit-listed candidates have to pay the fees as per Annexure 1 sent with Provisional Admission Letter to confirm admission and reserve their seat.

Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts Scholarship

 SSCA awards merit scholarship under SIU policy for all undergraduate programmes. The following are the details of the Scholarship for Academic Excellence at SSCA:

Eligibility

  • As per revised policy semester topper will be awarded scholarship based on academic excellence, a minimum GPA of 8.50.
  • Only those students will be eligible for the award of Merit Scholarship who have cleared the courses prescribed for the respective programme i.e. they should not have any backlog.
  • The student who has been awarded merit scholarship by the University shall not be debarred from stipend or any financial assistance from any other source. However, if the student is awarded any stipend or financial assistance from any other source, he/she shall communicate the same through the Institute to the office of Student Affairs, SIU.
  • There will be no income limit of the parents/guardians of the students for the grant of merit scholarship.
  • In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship/freeship by the University, he/she shall be awarded only one scholarship/freeship as per his/her preference.

Selection

  • The award of merit scholarship for UG programmes shall be announced every year by the University.
  • If a student declines or cancels his admission, the scholarship amount will not be awarded to any other student but will be refunded by the institute to the University.
  • The scholarship amount will not be paid to a student. It will be transferred by the University directly to the Institute for the adjustment in academic fee. The cheque of the scholarship amount will be given to the student for the last semester of the program.

Being one of India’s leading culinary arts schools, the institute lives up to its name by providing several modern facilities for better and qualitative learning:

  • Labs: SSCA features several study areas and labs for all departments such as Foundation Kitchen Lab, Bulk Kitchen Lab, Advanced Kitchen Lab, Bakery Lab, Patisserie Lab, Training Restaurant, Larder Lab and the Demo Kitchen Lab.
  • Library: The institute also has a Library And Reading Room where students have access to a good collection of books and other printed/online material.
  • Classrooms: The campus is fully WiFi-enabled and the classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors, a facility of collar mikes and a public address system.

Ques. What is the duration of the internship at SSCA?

Ans. At SSCA, a student has to undergo two internships. The first is a six-month internship at the end of the first year of academics. The institute encourages students to pursue this six months’ internship in the operational departments of renowned hospitality organizations. The second internship is for a duration of six weeks during the third year of academics. The six weeks’ internship is more focused on learning managerial skills where a student shadows decision-makers and understands the intricacies of leading a department/organization etc. We encourage the students to pursue this internship in allied areas of the hospitality/ service sector.

Ans. The reservation criteria for B.Sc at SSCA is as follows:
