About Shyam Lal College
Shyam Lal College is recognised as a co-educational constituent college of Delhi University . It offers 11 undergraduate courses in the fields of Science, Commerce and Humanities and 1 postgraduate course in Hindi to more than 3940 students. Admission to UG courses is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) followed by e-counseling. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses are required to appear for the CUET PG.
Padmashree (Late) Shri Shyam Lal Gupta founded Shyam Lal College in 1964 and the college is affiliated with the University of Delhi. SLC focused on imparting quality education to students, particularly to the girls belonging from East Delhi’s underprivileged communities. It provides special Remedial and Spoken English classes on a regular basis for students who find it difficult to keep pace with the curriculum.
SLC has a highly qualified and professional faculty team of 132 teachers and a non teaching staff (including temporary faculty & non-teaching staff) of 87 members. The college campus is spread across 29,501 square meters of land. Its infrastructure and other academic facilities have been upgraded to meet the growing pedagogical needs. A new building named the Porta Block has been one of the recent additions to the campus infrastructure. It holds a state-of-art seminar room with ICT facilities and a capacity of 100 seats. Besides this, the campus also has 7 well equipped undergraduate laboratories, staff room, library, office and canteen.

Shyam Lal College Admission Process 2023
Shyam Lal College's admission process is completely online. Candidates seeking admission are required to apply online on the official website. Admission to UG courses is done on the basis of CUET scores followed by e-counseling. Candidates need to pass their 10th and 12th class with 40 percent marks in total to be eligible for UG courses provided. The program-specific eligibilities vary from course to course.
The marks obtained by the candidate in CUET will be considered for computing the total marks according to the Program-Specific combinations of subjects for deciding merit and granting admissions in the undergraduate programs. Merit will be based only on the ‘combination of subjects in which a candidate has appeared in CUET as mentioned in the respective Program-Specific Eligibility.
PG admissions are done through CUET PG. There total 75 programs for PG courses which is been provided by Delhi University. As per the DU admission policy, 50% of seats will be reserved for DU students, while admission to the 50% seats will be provided through CUET PG. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for PG courses through the CUET PG entrance exam.

Candidates who wish to enroll for the UG courses are required to apply for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) whereas candidates who wish to apply for the PG courses are required to apply for the CUET PG.
CUET application process
Candidates applying for UG courses in Shyam Lal College can follow the following steps in order to register for the CUET:
- Candidates must visit the official CUET website that is: @cuet.samarth.ac.in.
- Upon opening the website candidates will find the ‘Register’ tab, they must click on it.

There is no entrance exam at the time when I had applied for admission, there are 12th marks cut off the system in which different cut-offs of different colleges were provided by University and we had to apply for the best alternative after selecting the available cut-off

The admission process was kinda changed this year through CUET so we can say that it made it easy and difficult for the students at some point in time.
First, we have to clear the CUET exam and then we have to fill DU form separately from which the colleges were allotted to the students.

The entrance exam is mandatory for du admission procedure. Admission for the B.Sc. Physical Science course requires the aspirants to complete their undergraduate degree with a minimum average of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university or college in any relevant discipline, having physics, chemistry, and biology as their main subjects. In addition, for the age criteria, the aspirants must be at least 17 years to apply for the course. Also, aspirants satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria, which is a combination of scores obtained and entrance exams. Application forms should be available on www.du.ac.in. The admission process was pretty simple. There was a list of cut off based on class 12th marks for every college in Delhi University. I got Shyam Lal College on the 4th Cut-Off List. The application form was hosted on the University of Delhi's website. I did not get the benefit of any Reservation as I am General Category Male. After my batch, the University of Delhi changed its admission process and now it is based on entrance exams along with class 12th marks. It is a great improvement in my opinion

It was a very nice experience. The staff was so helpful at that time. For this course, your marks in maths, physics, and chemistry were only considered. In this course, you also get reservation benefits usually around 20%.

The entrance exam was conducted called CUET. It was an easy paper if you studied well in 12th. It was all MCQ based and you need to give an exam for every subject individually. The application fee was 1300 for Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Physical Education, General knowledge, English, and Hindi. You can find the application on the website of DU admission. I am from the unreserved category but there are so many reservations for OBC, EWS, DELHI QUOTA, SC, ST, DEFENCE SERVICES, etc. The admission process was quite smooth with 3 rounds of cut off and 3 spot rounds.

There was no entrance exam during my admission but now they do conduct entrance exams. The cut-off at my time was 92.75. Now they admit on the basis cuet marks. I did not avail of any reservation. But they do provide reservation benefits.
