The hostel at St. Stephen's College, referred to as residence, accommodates approximately 350-400 students across six blocks, with three blocks each for males and females. Admission is competitive and based on merit, extracurriculars, and interviews, with 50% of seats reserved for Christian students. First-year students share rooms, while second-year and beyond usually get single rooms. Rooms lack air conditioning, having only fans, with options for personal coolers. Facilities include common areas, a 10 pm curfew for females, and shared washrooms.
The mess serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, including evening tea. Despite being moderately priced compared to other colleges, the infrastructure is considered old, with basic amenities. Many students opt for nearby PG accommodations, which cost around Rs. 8,500 to Rs. 16,000 per month. Curfews and rules tend to be stricter for female residents.
