Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) was established in 1995 by the State Government of Kerala. SCTCE offers B.tech degree in six disciplines namely, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Automobile), Mechanical Engineering (Production), Electronics and Communication Engineering, Bio Technology and Computer Science Engineering. Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on December 31 of the year of admission they are applying in.
Candidates willing to apply for the examination should have completed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission. However candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota.
Out of the total seats available for admission in SCTCE, 50% seats are filled under the state quota, 25% of seats are filled under the management quota filled by Govt., 10% are under the management quota KSRTC and remaining 15% seats are filled the NRI quota.

Admissions to the state quota and to the management quota are provided by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) based on the rank obtained in the entrance test and observing all reservation norms as applicable to the Govt. Engineering Colleges. In the case of Admissions to NRI seats are done based on the marks obtained by the applicant in the qualifying examination. Application for the Entrance Examination can be submitted through the official examination website. Fees can be paid online or by E-Challan.
All the applicants are categorized under Keralite (Residents of Kerala, Non Keralite I (Candidates who have done 10+2 in Kerala or whose Parents belong to GOI / Defence and are posted in Kerala for minimum 2 years) and Non Keralite II categories ( All other)
Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech programme should have scored at least 55% marks (For SC/ST candidates, only pass is enough) or in B.tech degree examination or any equivalent examination recognized by the university of Calicut in the respective branch of study.
Candidates are shortlisted for admission to the M.Tech programme on the basis of marks scored in GATE. The GATE (General Aptitude Test for Engineers) is an online examination conducted every year by IITs. The entire process of GATE is done via online mode only i.e. from filling the application to the payment of fee. Application fee for General male candidate is INR 1500 for all others it is INR 750.

Candidates seeking admission should fill online application through the official CEE Kerala website. An application fee of Rs.800/- (General candidates), Rs.400/- (SC candidates), No fee (ST candidates) should be submitted while registration through the available payment modes.
Candidates can submit the application fee through either of the two following methods:
Online Payment: The fee may be paid by credit card/debit card/Internet Banking.
E-Challan: In case of payment through e-Challan, the payment should be made in the selected branches of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) in India or all Head /Sub Post Offices in Kerala, in cash. The printout of the online submitted Application can be taken only after successful payment of Application Fee.

Candidates seeking admission to Professional courses will be categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).
Keralite: A candidate of Kerala Origin will be categorized as ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’
Non-Keralite Category I (NK I): Candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents belonging to Govt. of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala.
Non-Keralite Category II (NK II): Candidates who do not come under ‘Keralite’ or 'Non Keralite Category I' will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralite Category II'.
Candidates of Non-Keralite Category II (NK II) category are eligible for admission to Government seats and Management quota seats in engineering courses in Government Controlled Self financing Colleges. However, these candidates will be considered for admission to the Government seats in Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges only when the Keralite and Non-Keralite I (NK I) candidates are not available for admission.
