Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) offers B.E. and B.Tech courses under 7 and 3 specialization respectively. Candidates from Tamil Nadu state who have completed their 10+2 level from another state must produce a certificate of Nativity in order to seek admission under community quota.

• For B.E./B.Tech, candidates must pass 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in the science stream and admission the course is based on the TNEA exam scores.
• Candidates from Backward Classes who have secured a minimum of 45% marks, MBC & DNC candidates with 40% marks and SC/ ST/ SCA candidates with 40% marks are eligible.
• Admission to M.E. is done on the basis of GATE/ TANCET scores. For M.E., a candidate must have passed B.E. /B.Tech. degree in relevant discipline with minimum 50% marks.
• Engineering Diploma holders of a minimum three-year duration with minimum 50% marks are eligible to seek admission to 2nd year of the B.E. program under the Lateral Entry scheme.

Chennai Institute of Technology offers four-year degree programs in various engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level in six specializations.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the B.E. programs is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with 50% individual marks in each of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 

The selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam through Anna University’s TNEA counseling.

The college also offers B.E. Lateral entry admission for which candidates must obtain a Diploma in engineering/technology with minimum 50% marks.

Prospective candidates may visit the Anna University website or log on to the dedicated TNEA website and fill the application form online. Candidates seeking admission under management quota do not require to apply through TNEA. Such candidates may apply directly on the institute level.

Chennai Institute Of Technology B.E/B.Tech Eligibility Criteria:

• Higher Secondary Examination qualified from a recognized board of education.
• Minimum 50% marks should be secured in the qualifying examination.
• Appearing candidates are also eligible for applying.

Chennai Institute Of Technology B.E/B.Tech Selection Criteria:

• Admission to the course will be based on the marks secured in TNEA or JEE Mains and Counselling.
• The TNEA application fee for General candidates is INR 500 and INR 250 for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
• Relaxation of 5% is given to reserved category candidates.
• Sri Lankan Tamil refugee candidates are eligible for TNEA counseling, provided they meet all eligibility norms set by Anna University for TNEA candidates.
• Such candidates are however eligible to apply under open category only.
• Lateral Entry to 2nd year (Semester III) is allowed for all B.E. programs subject to fulfilling all eligibility criteria for the same.

Chennai Institute of Technology offers a master’s degree (M.E.) programs in various engineering disciplines. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the M.E. programs offered by CIT is a B.E./ B. Tech degree in the relevant or allied engineering discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. 

Candidates are selected on the basis of their GATE score or TANCET marks through TANCA counseling. Candidates seeking admission to M.E. programs may apply through the official website of Anna University or through the dedicated TANCET website.

Chennai Institute Of Technology M.E Eligibility Criteria:

• Graduation Degree in the relevant courses.
• Minimum of 50% marks should be secured in the qualifying examination.
• Students appearing for the final examination can apply for admission to the course.

Chennai Institute Of Technology M.E Selection Criteria:

• Admission to the course will be based on the TANCA counseling conducted by Anna University.
• GATE candidates who have qualified the entrance exam in the year 2018, 2019, and 2020 only are eligible to apply for TANCA Counselling. Any previous year’s GATE score is not acceptable.

• Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech degrees obtained through Distance Mode/ Weekend courses are not eligible for TANCA counseling.
• Candidates belonging to a state other than Tamil Nadu are exempt from reservation and must apply under the open category only.

Chennai Institute of Technology fills its government quota seats students through Anna University’s admission process, viz. TNEA (UG) and TANCA counseling. 

The undergraduate level engineering candidates are admitted on the basis of their class XII marks through a centralized counseling process – TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions). 

Post-graduate level candidates for engineering courses are admitted on the basis of their GATE/ TANCET score through TANCA (Tamil Nadu Common Admissions).
