- The University of Alberta offers an MSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering Science for a duration of 2 years.
- It is an on-campus, thesis-based program offered on a full-time basis.
- The MSc program, a full-time research-based program, will help students to advance their knowledge and skills by providing students with that extra edge needed to get ahead.
- The Engineering Department provides three different degrees. These are:
- Master of Engineering (MEng, Course-based)
- Master of Science (MSc, Thesis-based)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD, Thesis-based)
- The curriculum of the program requires a minimum of 18 (six single-term courses or equivalent), ENGG 600 plus a thesis.
- This program can be completed within 15 to 18 months. The maximum time permitted is four years from the date of registration.
- Students have opportunities to learn civilly, mining, petroleum, and/or environmental engineering alongside world leaders in their disciplines.
- The Faculty of Engineering's mission is to:
- produce engineering graduates of choice for employers and post-graduate schools and to produce graduates who can be leaders in engineering design and research
- produce nationally and internationally recognized engineering research
- provide high-quality service to the engineering profession and the external community
- The Faculty offers 21 engineering programs, and is home to Canada's second-largest Engineering Co-op program, with more than 1,400 paid student placements each year.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a four-year undergraduate degree or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta.
- A cumulative weighted average GPA of 3.0/4.0 [B Grade] is required.
- Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
- The submission of GRE scores is not required for this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Students will need to submit school results for Class XI showing a competitive average and course registration for Class XII, or Class XII mid-year results.
- Students in CBSE or CISCE schools need to present a 75%+ score on their final Class XII exams.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
