  • McMaster University offers MASc in Chemical Engineering for a duration of 2 years.
  • It is an on-campus, thesis-based program available with both full-time and part-time options.
  • This program will provide students with knowledge in a chosen area of specialty beyond the bachelor’s degree through a research-intensive program.
  • The MASc has a nominal duration of 24 months (6 semesters) after the Bachelor's degree.

    • Biomaterials and Bioprocessing
    • Polymer Science and Engineering
    • Process System Engineering and Control
    • Materials and process modelling computation
  •  Student is required to complete successfully at least three one-term courses, at least two of which should be at the 700-level.
  • Students are required to present a thesis, which constitutes an original contribution to chemical engineering.
  • The MASc program consists of three one-term graduate courses and a dissertation based on research completed under the supervision of a professor.
  • Students have an opportunity to bypass the MASc degree after completing 6 months and enrol directly in the PhD program subject to a detailed and satisfactory review of progress in both research and course work.
  • Full time students for MASc Degree are required to spend at least one academic year of graduate study at McMaster University.
  • Students must present a seminar lecture on a topic approved by the Department, and attend the seminars regularly.
  • The average salary of the program goes up to 52,000 USD.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete 4-year undergraduate degree in engineering or physical science from a recognized university.
  • A minimum GPA B+ (77 to 79%) average is required to get admission in this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a 3-year UG degree must have a substantial background in computer science or software engineering or a related field.

Submission of GRE scores is not compulsory for this program, however, if students have given the GRE exam then it is recommended to submit the scores (minimum 300) for a better chance of admission.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
