- The Master of Engineering in Applied Data Science (MADS) program prepares motivated students and IT professionals for careers at the forefront of the data-driven transformation of businesses worldwide.
- This one-year intensive academic program is offered jointly by the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Three consecutive terms of coursework are followed by one to three optional co-op terms, in which students gain real work experience to complement what they’ve learned in class.
- UVic’s Master of Engineering in Applied Data Science will allow students to:
- manage and analyze large data sets efficiently and effectively;
- acquire advanced data science and engineering skills;
- respect security and privacy in problem-solving and decision making;
- gain practical and industrial experience; and

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Students require a minimum B average (5.0/9.0 GPA) or 73-76% range in the last two years (30 units) of academic study.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a Bachelor’s (4 years) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
