Building on a foundation of theory, philosophy, research, and clinical practice, the Master of Nursing (M.N.) The program prepares nurses for advanced practice roles, building on students' experience in diverse practice settings. Master of Nursing programs prepares nurses for advanced practice in focused areas that may include direct clinical practice, education, or health policy/leadership.
Course-based students have a total of six years to complete the program. The Master's Program offers three routes: M.N. course-based, M.N. thesis-based, and the integrated Master of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner (M.N./NP). Both the M.N. course-based and the M.N. thesis-based routes require a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
The M.N. course-based program can be taken concurrently with the post-master's Nurse Practitioner (NP) Diploma program, commonly referred to as the M.N./NP. The M.N./NP program requires a minimum of three years of clinical experience in the applicant's proposed area of focus.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Be a Registered Nurse, holding a four-year baccalaureate degree, normally in nursing
- A 3.0 grade point average based on the last 20 half course equivalents
- Evidence of active nursing registration in Alberta through CARNA—College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta
- Successful completion of one undergraduate half-course in research methodology
- Successful completion of one undergraduate half-course in statistics
- Submit a TOEFL or IELTS score
- Submit two letters of recommendation from academic references.
- Upload or mail your academic records from all secondary schools attended. If your transcripts, diploma, or any other academic documents are not in English, you must include an official English translation.

You can apply for the M.Eng Chemical and Petroleum Engineering proghram of the University of Calgary if you have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in chemical or petroleum engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. You must submit your official transcripts as well as a copy of your cetificate. International students must also submit a valid ELP test score unless eligible for exemption.
