My study experience in Queen's University

EL
9.7 /10

They had an easy application process and are very well known for their amazing business school. They have high retention rates and high success of employment after graduating. They also offer a joint Bcom and JD program, few unis in the country do. I was too of my class, president of service clubs, and a public speaker. I did the IB program and they transferred my credits easily.

Course Curriculum :

My first-year courses are fairly basic but also very interesting. They will serve as a good foundation for the business world.

Exams :

Only 7% of applicants get into the Smith school of business. You need to have done Calculus and maintain a minimum score in that and English for entry (80% or an IB 5). I had an IB 39. I have a major admission scholarship (36,000$) for academics and outstanding extracurriculars. They are well known for decoupling well-rounded business students who succeed in the workforce

Placement :

Phenomenal for business students. Firms often do onsite hiring and recruit a record number of Queen's students each year. We revive coaching on how to conduct interviews and networking. We also have access to an alumni network that connects us to professionals in our field of interest

Internship :

Yes, they do. Typically they are for students who require finical assistance and they typically pay Ontario minim wage. They are typically service jobs in cafes or the book store. Applications are through the Almamter Society website and easy to access

Events :

Home coming-celebrate football and alumni return

Fees :

For commerce, it was about 15,000 per year. Books are about 400 per semester. I'm not sure if there are scholarships for international students. There are many entrance and commerce specific scholarships available. I was awarded the chancellors scholarship for 36,000 (9,000 per year). It is for students who excel in academics and extracurricular.

Scholarship :

Yes, you fill out a general application for major Addison awards.

Examination Structure :

For first years, you have 5 midterms and 4 finals in the first semester. They are written in a large auditorium unless you have academic accommodations.

Faculty :

They are very professional, well educated, and eager to help. There is a sufficiently factual to student ratio. The majority of my Profs have PHDs. Teaching assistants are very helpful.

Hostel :

Almost all first-years live in residence and the experience has been amazing. The meal plan includes 19 meals a week plus 200 opportunities to purchase a meal in a retail outlet for no extra cost per year. The residence is less than a 5-minute walk from the business school
