Campus Life:

Campus Life is the most important aspect of our UNI bcz you're going to become a leader & improve communication, personal attributes with extra curricular activities as we have plenty of Clubs, Groups, Unions etc.

The infrastructure is fabulous. It is literally state of the art. Anything you name it, library, gymnasium, sport facilities. Since lockdown started because of the pandemic last year, the social interaction has been very minimal. I started in 2019, at that time social interaction was there. There are a lot of clubs, societies and the parties that go on. You get a lot of opportunities to meet people, like-minded people and not necessarily just people from the same ethnicity, you meet people from all around the world and learn a lot of things. The university has a lot of societies. It's actually a vast array of societies and cultural societies that they have over here. They have economic society, Bollywood society, Indian society, dance society, etc. I would like to recommend that whoever is applying for this university, try and reach Melbourne at least one week before your program starts so that you can attend the orientation week. In that particular week, obviously you will get the whole tour of the university. All around the year, there are free programs that are conducted. There is astronomy club, chess club, etc. You do occupy throughout the year.

I was living in private accommodation whereas there are 3 types of accommodation available. First is we can go for university accommodation, second is private accommodation and the third is we can look for a flat or house nearby university. University accommodation is not so good, there are not so much facilities but that is quite economical.

Hostel:

for the international students, there are university housing accommodation facilities catered to them which is merely walking distance from the Institution. They are also more affordable providing all the basic amenities to the students. A lot of students coming from abroad prefer to stay here as the accommodation place is in close proximity of the IVEY college. Apart from these, the city also offers accommodation in apartments/ Villa/Cottage but they might be slight expensive comparatively.

The university has their own accomodation which charges about 300-450 AUD weekly. Students usually prefer to stay outside as it is cheaper.

The UoM has a high research output and is ranked 32 all over the world. It has a great academic and employment reputation. Moreover the structure of the course I selected seemed to meet my interest as well. To add to this Australia is a beautiful country to travel in as well and Melbourne ranks in the world's top 10 most livable cities.

I lived on campus for my first year as was new in Uni and the campus but from second year onwards I started living off campus. Its lot fun on campus because things turn our to be pretty convenient but off campus has its own lifestyle.

I choose this university because of the scholarship it was providing for its Year 1 studies.

I actually went to Australia with my friend who is enrolled at Melbourne University. We had planned to live together so university accommodation wasn't really an option. We had a really positive experience with UniLodge and it offered decent boarding for a very low cost. We plan to lease out our own apartment soon though. So there are definitely more viable options than living in university accommodation. It does require you to be a bit more responsible But the overall experience and money saved are worth it.

The University of Melbourne is among the world's highest-ranked Universities, both in general and for the course/major I'm considering studying which is Computing and Software Systems. I chose Australia because the climate is very similar to where I live in Islamabad, Pakistan and therefore I would not need to adjust much as opposed to a place like Canada. Once I had decided on Australia, Melbourne University was the natural first choice as it is Australia's number 1 university. I chose to study Computing and Software systems because of their immense relevancy in a wide variety of industries as well as academic research.

I live in Unilodge D1 which is based on Bouverie Street and is a 5 minutes walk to the University campus. It is a studio apartment consisting of a single bed, kitchenette, bathroom, balcony, sofa and study table. The wifi, gas and water bills are included in the rent. The average rentals in this region are about 1000-1500 AUD. There are a number of shared accommodation options as well such as student housing, other Unilodges, Atira, etc. Moreover, there are a number of cheaper options that are available in docklands and south bank, but are about 20-25 minutes away from the university campus.

When I was thinking of choosing my University I had in my mind that, The University of Melbourne is Australia’s number one University and comes in the global ranking of the best universities in the world and is recognised as the best in the world for business and management programs. It has world class infrastructure with libraries, computers, internet and research base that will help me in creating the kind of future I want for myself. It will provide me with in depth knowledge about HR and help me grow more in this field.

I lived in a private student accommodation Atira, ( $308 for a twin share) expensive (all costs covered except food) but had a great time, good service, community spirit programs, and a great atmosphere: https://atira.com/ In the second year I lived in a residential college, The Queen's College, very expensive. 2 bedroom share starts at around $530 per week. Exclusive community with academic and social programs provided. check here as there is a bit of a procedure to get into 1 of the 8 residential colleges (all cost covered and food as well): https://study.unimelb.edu.au/discover/accommodation/residential-colleges

I was drawn to this University because of the combination of Marketing and Communications. The second reason was the multicultural nature of Melbourne city and thriving digital marketing.
