Jessie Wilson Review at Swinburne University Of Technology, Melbourne | Collegedunia

Mostly good things

The courses I wanted were available as undergraduate, I can study online, it is a well-respected university, the customer service was really good, staff is helpful and teachers respect students, I had a relative studying here which influenced my decision.

Course Curriculum :

It is relevant for the most part but I always feel as though there are "filler" courses that are a waste of time. Why do students need to di electives if they will not gain useful knowledge for it? But in order to graduate you are forced to do a certain number of subjects.

Fees :

You need to pay amenities/admin fee but it is much more reasonable because I am online. On-campus study with another uni cost me double. Fees are reasonable (comparatively) and can be put on HECS.

Examination Structure :

I am studying online so not every subject has exams. Some subjects have heavily weighted assignments instead of exams. One invigilated exam per semester for those subjects that have exams that are done by an external body.

Faculty :

Some of the lecturers are idiots. I have had to lodge a complaint because the staff member was incapable of answering questions from students and then they did answer them it had taken 5 back and forth emails to get a proper response.
