The?journalism major?provides a solid foundation in convergent journalism, mass communication, media law and ethics, desktop publishing and design, public affairs reporting, and magazine article writing. These then serve as a framework for advanced study in the student?s area of interest, such as broadcast journalism, newspapers and magazines, nonfiction creative writing, international journalism, entertainment reporting, faith and values reporting, public relations, marketing communications, radio and sound production, and documentary filmmaking. In addition, our convergent journalism program boasts four student-run media ? newspaper (Clause), magazine (Collide), TV (Capture), and radio (KAPU) ? which all journalism students are required to be a part of during their time at APU.

The major?s curriculum and out-of-class experiences in Greater Los Angeles, one of the largest media markets in the world, and on international study abroad options, prepares students for meaningful impact in a convergent news and media industry.
