- As a Master's student in the Department of Economics at the University of New Mexico, a student will have the opportunity to learn about and conduct applied research on the most pressing problems of this century.
- Working with a committed, diverse faculty, he will learn skills and knowledge through our theoretical and econometric sequences before conducting his own research in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Public Economics, or International Development and Sustainability.
- Their students are diverse. They hail from five continents and bring a range of academic specialties, contributing to a vibrant department. This diversity informs their research interests and professional goals.
- Their Plan I program consists of intensive classroom-based coursework, with students completing a Master's thesis during the final semester of their program. The Master's thesis involves investigating a research question of the student's choosing with one-on-one faculty mentorship through to the completion of the project. Students can also opt for a Plan II (no thesis) Master's where they will be tested in their field of study through written examination. Either Master's track can be completed in 18 to 24 months.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a related subject from a recognized university.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the program.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
