Virginia State University Campus

The Virginia State University campus is in a suburban setting. The university has a main campus as well as an off-campus agricultural research facility known as the Randolph Farm. The campus also has various recreational and leisure activities such as indoor and outdoor basketball, football, tennis, and many more.

The intramural sports at the university is open to all students, faculty, and staff. The campus also has a book store that provides textbooks and other essentials that students require. The store functions in both online and offline mode and is open from Monday to Thursday from 9 am - 3 pm.

The Johnston Memorial Library which is situated on the campus provides all kinds of subject guides, e-reserves, journals, newspapers, e-books, and many more. The opening hours of the library are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Life at campus provides a secure and progessive environment to the students.

Virginia State University Residence 

Virginia State University provides student housing in the US on-campus to full-time and unmarried students. All first-time freshman and sophomore students are supposed to stay in one of the on-campus residences. The residence halls are fully furnished and have complete access to TV and high-speed internet. The common areas also have recreational, computer, and laundry facilities.

On-campus residences consist of gender-specific and coed residence halls. The residence halls have LEED gold-certified Quad and Gateway facilities. Other facilities available are workout rooms, communal kitchens, lounges, and multimedia classrooms. The freshman residence halls are Branch Hall, Byrd Hall, Eggleston Hall, Langston Hall, Seward Hall, VSU Quad I, Williams Hall.

Ans: The residence halls have a professional staff member, the Residence Educator, who supervises and manages the residence halls. The students can contact their Residence Educator and request a work order request mentioning what exactly needs to be repaired. Once the request is processed someone in the Facilities Management will look into the matter.

Ques. Can the students reuse or postpone the not-used meals in the given week to next week?

Ans: The meals given in a week must be used that week itself. It cannot be carried over from one week to the next week. Students must use all the meal swipes that particular week or they will lose them.

Ques. How does the laundry system in the residence halls work?

Ans: Each residence hall is equipped with Coin and University Trojan Card-operated laundry facilities. The cost for washing is $1.25 per load and for drying is $1.25 per load. Students may add money to their cards by visiting the cashier's office located in Virginia Hall.

Ques. What is the comprehensive fee which is included in the cost of attendance?

Ans: Comprehensive fee supports organizations and activities, athletic programs, reserves for facilities enhancement or additions/replacements, and a variety of other college programs, activities, and state mandates.

Ques. What if the student cannot attend the SAT or ACT exam due to pandemics?

Ans: In light of the global crisis and cancellation of the SAT and ACT exams, the Office of Admission has expanded its test-optional review. Students with a GPA of 2.2 or higher, who have completed an application, and have submitted official high school transcripts will be considered for admission based upon their display of strong academic achievement in their core coursework.

Ques. Can international students get Summer school housing?

Ans: Yes, the students can get Summer school housing and there is no deposit for summer school. The students only have to complete the online summer housing application: www.vsu.edu

Ques. When do the residence halls open for intake and can the students select their roommates?

Ans: The residence halls open August 5th and students can move in between 8 am and 5 pm. First-time students are allowed to make roommate requests via their online housing application. Both incoming students must request each other on their applications and both students must complete all requirements regarding housing before being assigned.
