Through coursework and research students will study four subdisciplines of anthropology:

  • Archaeology: Explore ancient cultures and learn techniques to analyze their material remains such as tools, paintings, and religious artifacts to interpret their values and way of life.
  • Biological Anthropology: Examine the evolution of the brain and nervous system to understand human nature, health, mortality, and reproductive behavior.
  • Linguistics: Investigate the nature of relationships shared between language and culture.
  • Cultural Anthropology: Focus on contemporary issues such as economics, politics, religion, and art through interviews and observation to create in-depth ethnographies.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Applicants with undergraduate majors in anthropology are preferred, and each is expected to have had at least one undergraduate course in each of the four subdisciplines.
  • Students must achieve and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTSTOEFL, or PTE scores. 
  • The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or GMAT results are required. 

Indian Students Eligibility:

  • Students should submit required official and complete individual mark skeets for each examination attempt, including subsidiary exams. 
  • Photocopies of student's mark sheets are accepted only when they are attested by the University Registrar or Controller of Examinations and placed in a sealed, stamped envelope that is sent directly to the Graduate School.
