- The Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice program makes students delve into the philosophy and structure of the American criminal justice system by examining the intersection between laws, enforcement agents, legal personnel, criminal offenders, victims, and average citizens.
- Students will also study the individual and social causes of crime and the fundamentals of successful crime prevention programs.
- Students will study the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that influence definitions of crime, explain offending and crime rates, sway societal reactions, influence policy, and shape the criminal justice system.
- In this program, students will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of causes of crime and society’s response to crime, familiarity with research design, familiarity with descriptive statistics, the logic of inferential statistics, and the ability to think critically about crime and crime policy.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have strong records in history, mathematics, English, languages, and/or natural sciences.
- Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher following completion of at least 56 credits (of which 30 credit hours must be taken at the University at Albany)
- The students should have completed the General Education Program at the University at Albany
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.
Indian Students Eligibility:
- Students should submit required official and complete individual mark skeets for each examination attempt, including subsidiary exams.
- Photocopies of student's mark sheets are accepted only when they are attested by the University Registrar or Controller of Examinations and placed in a sealed, stamped envelope that is sent directly to the Graduate School.
