Master of Science [M.S] (Childhood and Special Education)

This is a program of study for candidates who have a liberal arts degree, but who do not meet the New York State requirements for Initial Certification in Childhood and Special Education. Students who wish to add certification to teach English, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or social studies for grades 7-9 may do so by taking additional courses.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0
- Applicant should have completed a majors in liberal arts area
- Applicant must have completed the following courses: 6 credits in English, Maths, science, history; one year of language other than English; one course in fine arts
- Submit two letters of recommendation
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 79 in iBT; 550 in PBT; 213 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
- PTE: minimum 53
