The School of Information Resources and Library Science (SIRLS) is proud to announce the creation of a new academic program, eSociety, which will offer students the opportunity to pursue either a Bachelor of Arts degree or an Undergraduate Minor in eSociety. Innovations in communication and computational technology are fundamentally changing the ways we create, process, share, manage, and shape knowledge. eSociety will prepare students for life and work in contemporary society.
The knowledge of ethical, legal, historical, and modern aspects of information technologies, technical computing, data analysis, social media, database, and sociocultural and technology trends, gained from a major in eSociety, provides graduates a solid career foundation. Graduates are well prepared to work in information literacy instruction, social analysis, information management, data analysis, and computing. This major is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in library science or information technology. Some of the job titles listed below may require an advanced degree.
