- A bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders will prepare students to continue their education at the master’s, AuD, or Ph.D. level. By specializing in audiology, education of the deaf, and hard of hearing or speech-language pathology, students will build a foundation in comprehensive communication sciences and disorders while gaining expertise in their field of interest.
- Students majoring in audiology will prepare themselves to work in the health care field identifying, diagnosing, and treating disorders of the auditory system, which includes portions of the ear responsible for hearing and balance. MSU’s undergraduate audiology program offers students clinical observation opportunities in our full-service clinic, giving them a more diverse understanding of the communication sciences.
- Get involved as an undergraduate student with student organizations, produce solid undergraduate work and secure faculty recommendations to help students succeed as they progress to the next step.
-
An undergraduate degree in audiology lays the foundation for a student’s future career as an audiologist. Audiologists:
- Measure a person’s range of hearing
- Diagnose and treat hearing and balance issues
- Design and implement new safety and screening programs
- Develop new research in the field
- Make recommendations for hearing aids, implants, surgery, etc.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have completed a full sequence of studies that would qualify them for admission to university-level work in their own country. Additionally, freshman international students must have completed a recognized secondary program comparable to U.S. high school graduation, and have academic records demonstrating achievement comparable to the achievement required by the domestic Freshman Admission Requirements. Completed course work must be equivalent to the twelve-year program in the United States. To qualify as official, documents must be sent to the Missouri State Office of International Services directly from the issuing institution.
- Students are required to submit SAT or ACT scores.
- Students may not need an ACT or SAT score to be admitted. If they have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, then students meet the selection index requirements, and a test score is not needed for admission purposes.
- Proof of student’s proficiency in English is required if their primary language is not English. Persons who have completed one or more years of university-level study in the U.S. may be exempt at the discretion of the International Services Office. International students hailing from non-English speaking countries must submit TOEFL/IELTS... or any equivalent test score reports to meet the English proficiency requirement.
- Attainment of at least a 3.00 GPA (based on a 4.00 scale). For students with transfer credit, a combined GPA of at least 3.00 must be achieved for all transfer coursework plus all coursework attempted at Missouri State.
- Completion of at least 50 semester hours including the following General Education courses with grades of "C" or better.
- For students pursuing the accelerated Doctor of Audiology degree, at least two of the three required science courses must include a laboratory component. For all other students, at least one of the science courses must include a laboratory component.
