Financial Aid for International Students
The University offers student loans and various scholarships for international students to study in the US with an F1-Visa. Online application and submission of transcripts are required to avail of the scholarships and loans.
International Scholarship
- The undergraduate eligibility requirements for the scholarship are Minimum composite ACT score of 24 or another equivalent; secondary school GPA of at least 2.0 on the U.S. scale. While all the incoming graduate students who have been admitted to the graduate program of the university are eligible for the scholarship.
- The scholarship award is equivalent to the non-resident fee and is limited to 8 semesters for undergraduates and 4 semesters for graduates.
F-2, Dependent Scholarship
- Available for part-time students and the holder of an F-2 visa.
- The student must not be enrolled in more than 9 credit hours (undergraduate) or 6 credit hours (graduate) per semester, i.e., must be a part-time student.
- The scholarship awarded is equivalent to 50% of the non-resident fee.

“English as a Second Language” Scholarship
- This scholarship gives incentive to the “English as a Second Language” students to graduate from LSUS.
- It is a one-year scholarship that would give these students time to achieve the criteria for the retention scholarship.
- Eligibility Requirements: Must have successfully completed the “English as a Second Language” program at LSU Shreveport; Must be a full-time student at LSU Shreveport.
- Retention Requirements: Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA at LSU Shreveport Must complete 12 credit hours (undergraduate) or 9 credit hours (graduate) per semester.
