Harding University was founded in 1924 when two junior colleges, Arkansas Christian College and Harper College joined institutions to form a full-fledged senior university. It was granted the university status by the board of trustees in 1979 and is located in the town of Searcy, Ark. It is a private Christian Institute with a close connection to churches and wishes to spread education and philosophy among its students through consistency with Christian ideals.

The university has over 4,000 students from a variety of countries and states which uphold the representation of diversity. Harding Unversity offers admissions in about 100 academic majors and 14 different certificate and diploma programs in a number of fields including Health, Arts and Humanities, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Sciences.
